Titan Equity Nourish Network - TENN at University of Detroit Mercy Celebrating 10 years of student and community collaboration for a more food sovereign Detroit Why TENN? Titan: We are proud to be Titans.

Titan Equity Nourish Network (TENN) at University of Detroit Mercy fosters student and community collaboration for a more food sovereign Detroit. TENN provides students with real opportunities to apply things they learn in the classroom as they design and lead programs that promote equity and sustainability in the food system. As a part of the Institute for Leadership and Service, TENN student lea

ders coordinate multiple service opportunities each week that reduce the immediate effects and systemic causes of hunger and food waste. Visit our linktr.ee in bio to see our calendar of events, sign up for volunteer opportunities, visit our website, and donate to support our crowdfunding campaign. Community collaboration ignites our students and nourishes growth through meaningful service opportunities and educational engagement. Equity: We strive for a food system that is grounded in equity because equality does not equate to justice. Through mutually beneficial relationships with our community, we seek to examine and remediate the root causes of food and environmental inequity. Nourish: We nourish bodies, relationships, minds, and the earth. While nourishment can be acquired through food, we also nourish through community engagement, education, and sustainable practices. Network: We are privileged to be a part of a greater network. In collaboration with Detroit Mercy staff, faculty, and students, and community partners and campus neighbors, we work together for a more food sovereign Detroit.

Garden Update!

Our garden continues to grow thanks to the amazing support of our community! A huge thank you to our student and alumni volunteers who helped construct and fill our garden beds.

We’re also incredibly grateful to Home Depot, Lowe’s, Greenfield Landscape, Blocks Romulus, and Telly’s for their generous donations. Your support is helping us create a space that will continue to provide fresh produce and bring our community together.

We can’t wait to share more updates as the garden continues to grow!

It is an honor to be included in edible WOW's article highlighting universities addressing food insecurity in their communities.

We are proud of TENN's impact and grateful to be recognized by incredible organizations like edible Wow. In 2025, we delivered 36,346 pounds of food, fed 300 families, and diverted over 15,000 pounds of food waste from landfills!

Shout out to our student leaders, community partners, volunteers, and supporters that make this work possible!

A gift of just $14 provides one family with fresh proteins and dairy for an entire week. TENN’s Annual Fundraiser runs through April 30—if you’re able, please consider donating today to help keep this impact growing. 👉 https://www.udmercy.edu/giving/fund/event/food-fest.php

What if the person you are sitting next to in class right now becomes the next big name in Detroit?
Not long ago, Chef Melba Dearing was a Detroit Mercy student pitching ideas at the Bite-Sized Competition, helping Campus Kitchen (now called TENN), grow into an award-winning organization, and serving the community alongside fellow Titans.
Swipe through and you will see it unfold: ambition turning into action, a community built through Campus Kitchen, a family legacy carried through Bert’s Marketplace and a foundation of service that continues to guide her work today.
Now she is the Executive Chef of The Savoy in Detroit and she is coming back to campus!
Join us on February 25 from 4:30–5:30 PM in CHP 124 for a live cooking demo focused on affordable, healthy meals and a conversation about turning passion and community into real impact.
You are watching a full-circle story. ✨
Do not miss being in the room for the next chapter.
Bring your friends and come be part of it. 🍽️💛
