Sukkot on a farm? Yes please!

Dor Hadash kicked off the school year at Huckleberry Explorers' Club in partnership with Adamah Detroit. Kids made local lulavs, built their own shelters from found materials, enjoyed kibud (snack) in the sukkah, and created cyanotype prints with artist-in-residence Sarah Rose Sharp and guest artist Gabi Gibson. Those prints will become a sukkat shalom (canopy of peace) for the children's space at the Downtown Synagogue.

Dor Hadash is a pluralistic religious school, housed at Downtown Synagogue, and serving families in Detroit. All are welcome. Dor Hadash meets twice a month, 9:30am to noon, at the Downtown Synagogue. Children ages 4–12 learn holidays, prayer, Hebrew, and Jewish values while parents study with our rabbis! Thanks to the over 500 (!!) people who came to the Block Party last Sunday to celebrate the launch of The Sam and Jewish life in Detroit!

The Sam is all about building community through curiosity, joy, and human connection, and this year's Block Party was a beautiful example of that. We are so energized by this mission and are grateful to do this work alongside such a passionate and dedicated community. We can't wait for what's still to come!
