WWII U.S. Marine Benjamin Flournoy, one of the original first Black Marines to join the Marine Corps, at 100 years old, has stood his post in a military manner, and us now releived of duty by the Supreme Commandant. In was also a recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal awarded by President Barack Obama and the 112 U.S. Congress in 2012. Rest well Marine.

As a Combat Marine in the RVN, March would be the month I would come closest to death on the Ashau Valley close to the Laotian and Cambodian border, when our Recon Unit would be overrun by a squad of NVA Sappers. We suffered many casualties, including a close comrade who was blown up in his Foxhole. As a used my tactical radio to call for artillery and air support, he screamed himself to death as I felt helpless to save him. 50 years later, I still hear him. Veteran recall traumas like these as "anniversary dates. I ask all my fellow veterans and church members to stretch your hands this way...and keep me in prayers.
