My friend Dana Konieczny is part of one of my social groups and teaches in one of Detroit's most underserved school districts. She has a fun, quirky personality and uses her colorful style, creativity, and endless energy to capture the attention of her students and make learning exciting.
We all know Detroit's schools face many challenges, and teachers like Dana often go far beyond what's required. Year after year, I've watched her pour her heart into these children, frequently spending her own money to provide classroom supplies and create meaningful learning experiences because the school budget only covers the basics.
Each year, Dana puts together a classroom wish list filled with items that help her students learn and thrive. Friends, family, and supporters choose items from the list, and every purchase is shipped directly to her classroom.
