Peaches A185338
45 lb. spayed female, approx 4 years old

🍑This girl loves to snuggle!
🍑She leans in and welcomes all the pets and attention you will give!
🍑She is treat motivated, sits without being asked and takes them very gently!
🍑Quick movements near her head make her nervous
🍑She really perked up when toy came out. She will chase and retrieve most times.
🍑Overall she is a very gentle and mild mannered girl who has a playful side too!
🍑She walks decent on leash with minimal pulling—although a straight line is still a struggle as she bounces and twirls about
🍑Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros

Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids

Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt

🔔 Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in.

There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption.

To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. The shelter is open 7 days a week 10:30 AM - 5:30 PM.

📢**And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.**

Week 4 of our National Microchipping Month series — and this one is for everyone, whether you have a pet or not.

If you find a lost animal, here's what to do:

STEP 1: Safety first!
Secure the lost pet safely if you can. In Detroit city limits, call 313.922.DOGS if you need help from an Animal Control Officer.

STEP 2: Get them scanned for a microchip.
Any of these locations can scan a found pet for free:
✔ Your nearest animal shelter (including [Your Shelter Name])
✔ Any veterinary clinic
✔ Some Petco and PetSmart locations

The scan takes seconds. If a chip is found, the scanner displays a number. The shelter or vet can then look it up in a registry database and contact the owner.

STEP 3: If no chip is found, help spread the word.
Check out https://link.orlo.us/lTqLl for all the details.

July 4th is one of the busiest days of the year for shelters. If you know a neighbor, friend, or family member whose pet doesn't have a chip — please share this series with them. There's still time.

POV: Your summer adventure buddy is waiting at DACC ☀️🐾

Chasing Bubbles is a happy, one-year-old pup with a constantly wagging tail, good manners, and so much potential. He walks nicely on leash, already knows “sit” and is ready to find someone to show him what life outside the shelter is all about.

Whether you’re looking to adopt, foster, or take him on a sleepover, you could be exactly what this sweet boy needs.

Let’s get 🫧Chasing Bubbles🫧 out of the shelter and into his next chapter!

Empty the Shelters® returns July 5–26! 💙💚

Summer is one of the most challenging times of year for animal shelters. Kitten and puppy season brings an influx of homeless pets, while adoptions often slow down—leaving shelters overcrowded and stretched for resources.

That's why BISSELL Pet Foundation is partnering with shelters and rescues across the country to help more pets find loving homes through reduced adoption fees of $70 or less.

☀️ Summer is here, and our amazing foster families could use a little help while they’re away!

Vacation season means some of our regular fosters occasionally need short term coverage for the pups in their care. We’re looking for people to join our short-term foster list and step in for just a few days or up to a week when needed.

Dates are coordinated in advance between you and the pup’s primary foster, making this a great way to help if you love dogs but can’t commit to fostering full-time. 💙

A short stay with you means the foster pups don’t have to go through the stress of going back to the shelter while their foster family is away, and they can keep searching for a loving family of their own!
