Our unique model repurposes vacant school buildings into one-stop hubs of opportunity where families can thrive. We fill these hubs with the best and brightest nonprofit organizations and facilitate collaboration to create far greater life transformation together than was previously possible a

Detroit showed up, connected, and THRIVED!

The Durfee Innovation Society Community Fair was an incredible celebration of community and the impact speaks for itself:

🎒 600+ community members joined us
📚 300+ school bags and supplies distributed
👟 300+ pairs of shoes provided
📖 100+ new culturally relevant books shared
💡 4,800 energy-efficient LED lightbulbs distributed
🙌 18 volunteers helped bring the day to life
🤝 20+ vendors connected with the community
🏥 The Wayne Mobile Unit provided community resources
🍴 NPOs from Precinct 10 helped prepare food
🎺 The Gabriel Brass Band brought the energy!

From families and neighbors to community partners, vendors, volunteers, and organizations, the DIS was filled with connection, resources, opportunities, laughter, and memorable moments.

What an incredible evening at the Durfee Innovation Society !

Hundreds of Detroit neighbors, families, community partners, and organizations came together for our annual DIS Community Fair connecting with resources, building relationships, and having plenty of fun along the way.

Every child deserves the opportunity to imagine what's possible for their future.

Since 2025, nearly 1,000 Durfee students have been connected with career exploration, STEM experiences, and college readiness opportunities.

This impact is possible because of the many partners who invest their time, expertise, and resources into the Durfee neighborhood. Together, we're creating opportunities for students to discover new possibilities, build confidence, and dream bigger.

The excitement for Anchor Detroit is growing with every conversation.

At Anchor Fest, neighbors shared what this new space means to them and one message was heard again and again: families are excited to have more opportunities for their children right in their own neighborhood.

When the doors open, Anchor Detroit will be a place where young people can learn, explore, and build their future. It will connect residents to youth programming, workforce development, arts & tech, health and wellness resources, and opportunities to thrive, all under one roof.

Every act of service helps create more opportunities for Detroiters to thrive.

Last week, families from the Detroit Tigers Community program volunteered at the Durfee Innovation Society, helping inventory and organize our youth shoe closet, a free resource that provides shoes to children and families in the Durfee community.

Because of volunteers like them, these resources remain organized, accessible, and ready for the Detroiters who need them most.

Those words from Shawntae Harris Mintline, Director of Southeast Michigan at Grand Valley State University , capture what Anchor Detroit is all about.

As a valued Impact Partner, Grand Valley State University is already helping Detroiters access opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive through programs at the Durfee Innovation Society. Soon, they'll bring that same commitment to Anchor Detroit, expanding access to education, resources, and opportunity for residents on Detroit's east side.

Every Detroiter has a story. Some remind us that it's never too late to take the next step.

A few years ago, Willie shared his journey with us. As he approached his 70th birthday, he was working toward earning his GED through opportunities at the Durfee Innovation Society.

Today, his story continues to remind us what's possible when people have access to the resources and support they need to thrive.

Each year, more than 25,000 Detroiters come through the doors of the Durfee Innovation Society to access education, workforce development, youth programming, and other opportunities that help move lives forward.

June 26th was an unforgettable day for Life Remodeled!

We celebrated the ribbon-cutting and first public preview of Anchor Detroit, Life Remodeled's second Opportunity Hub.

More than 160 leaders, partners, and community members joined us to celebrate this milestone, followed by a Community Celebration where more than 500 residents came together to experience the vision for what's ahead.

Anchor Detroit is more than a building. It's a commitment to expanding access to opportunity, strengthening neighborhoods, and helping more Detroiters thrive.
