We no longer do fund raising/Volunteering
EIN # 46-3140742 We attempt to give resources and occassional fundraisers to raise money for our EMS/Fire/Police in the time of crisis. We, as a Nation, should feel an obligation to support those who put their lives on the line EVERYDAY. They do this with the thought of possibly not returning home to their loved ones. Brothers and sisters of these tight kn

it organizations perform duties of the utmost importance and should be able to rely on caring and generous people like you to support them when a crisis has evolved. We at Miles for Medics believe that support from communities keep our Hero’s feeling the sense of need to keep performing their duties admirably and with great honor, and it is OUR duty as citizens to provide them with this extra security. The “End Result” is a constant comradery, between the brotherhoods, due to our Hero’s knowing that we have their best interests covered in an unfortunate event. Miles for Medics is a way to assist our brothers and sisters with resources and in some circumstances limited fundraising. We are not a charity. As with any fundraiser, we will be solely dependent on grants, monetary donations, and support by sponsorship. The fundraisers will be supported by Nancy Mamawolf, with help from communities, Chapters, Page Admins, Volunteers, until sponsorship is attained to help with:
*Website
*Equipment for events
*Supplies for events
Miles for Medics would be happy for any additional input or help in the process to make these events better. Feedback is respectively wanted by all. Introduction

My name is Timothy Kotulak, I am an EMT, Military Vet, former Volunteer Firefighter, and a family man. One night when I was working a 48hr shift. I was praying, for God to show me a path where I could do something good for my brothers and sisters in EMS/Fire. Before I had even finished my prayer I had this BIG thought, a charity for my fallen and injured community. The excitement was intense to the point where I could not sleep or even pay attention to the Hockey game that was on!! I had figured that if I could not sleep or watch hockey, which are my two FAVORITE things to do, then this idea MUST be big and passionate to me. I have always wanted to do something great in my life, and I believed this was that great moment, the moment of an idea that could help so many. INSPIRATION

On February 13th, 2011 at approximately 0400, I received a call from the Vice President of my ambulance company. “Tim, your dad has been in an accident, he is seriously injured”. As it turns out, my father, a 40yr paramedic for the same company, was returning from a call. Himself and his partner were driving westbound on the Lodge Freeway in Detroit and witnessed a vehicle veer off the freeway into an embankment. My father and his partner secured the freeway and started assessing the driver. As they were gathering information, another car hit that car, which in turn flung in to my father’s body throwing it across the freeway and into potential oncoming traffic. My father’s partner noticed him lying in the freeway and bolted to pull him to safety. Long story short, it was a hit and run, my father ended up with six broken ribs, broken vertebrae, thumb, jaw, nose, legs, and a lacerated liver. I remember so well of the emotion I had felt walking into that emergency room and witnessing my father covered in blood. It was hard to see the strongest man I had ever known look so weak and unstable. It took surgeries and prayer to put him back together. I had taken a picture of him a day later of him giving a thumbs up, and that picture was VERY popular with the news media, colleagues, and family. A few weeks later my father stated to one local TV station that “he was not mad at the hit and run driver, he forgives them, they were probably just scared”. Still the strongest man I know. After the accident, bills piled up. The company and Workers Compensation did as much as they could to help. Many people from the EMS and Fire service donated funds and PTO hours to help provide extra security that established a better healing process for not just my father, but our whole family. When an incident like that occurs, many comforts and necessities are neglected and not covered. STRESS INHIBITS HEALING!!! Just the donations itself I believe profoundly altered my father’s outcome from a slow healing process to a fast healing process. The doctors were astounded at his recovery rate and how quickly he took to full recovery. I am not saying money or supplies will heal broken bones, but what I am preaching is that it sure as heck helps with the process, again “STRESS INHIBITS HEALING” Imagine you and your family in this situation, the feeling of” how are we going to make ends meet”. Miles for Medics will be one of a few fundraisers for people to choose from to help

II. Needs/Problems
Life insurance is not available to every department. Some companies offer Life insurance, some offer limited coverage, and some offer coverage with out of pocket expenses. Some healthcare providers may have to opt out of their coverage because that cannot pay out of pocket towards their Life insurance. This sometimes leaves the provider or their families to pick up some or all of the final expenses after a death or injury. Listed below are some problems this can impact a provider/family in everyday life.
• Bills
• Childcare expenses
• School tuitions
• Funeral costs
• Food
• Basic necessities
III. Goals/Objectives
Miles for Medics feel that the actions taken below will profoundly impact a Healthcare provider and their family with added wellness and comfort in their day to day lives.
• Adopt a family
• Donate food and water
• Help with a bill or expense
• Monetary donations
IV. Procedures/Scope of Work

I believe that the EMS/Fire/Police communities are part of the same family.
