is a community-based nonprofit organization developed in 2008 by Wayne State University instructor Alice Smith. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. The goal of this project is to involve youth, adults, and the business leaders in developing artistic programs that address the issues of deterioration, abandonment, prejudice, discriminations, and crime in our community. Works of art will involve a

ll cultures and will beautify, enhance, rebuild, identify, redesign, and restore a sense of pride for the community. Metro Multicultural Fine Arts, Inc. has developed several components that we feel are critical for accomplishing our goals. These components are language, academic skills, problem solving techniques, leadership skills, and community involvement. The language component involves the exchange of words that communicate an understanding of cultural objects that are used by people every day. The meanings of signs, statues, colors, letters, symbols, fabrics, stones, etc... are very important. Expanding the vocabulary increases opportunities for positive communication between people. The need for clear communication is very important in bringing the community into solidarity. Academic skills are used to incorporate language. Machining, special techniques, and tools, such as a welders, drill presses, kilns, belt sanders, and bench grinders, are used to create sculptural works of art. Cultural artistry involves vocabulary enrichments, knowing the names of equipment and techniques, academic skills, and the ability to experiment with ideas. Working with machinery and preparing materials can help students find permanent employment. Problem solving techniques require the use of mathematic and reading skills, proper judgment, and communication to ensure the best possible outcome. Leadership development can assist students in becoming more responsible. Students will learn preparation, organization, equipment care, cooperation, team work, conserving materials, and planning exhibitions, all while creating art in the community. The incorporation of these components will enhance a foundation of understanding and stability for the entire community.
