If you’re supporting a loved one living with a mental health condition, this is a space where you can connect with people who truly understand what that journey can look like. Sometimes just being around people who “get it” can make a huge difference.

We’ll be talking, listening, sharing experiences, and supporting one another in a safe, judgment-free environment. Whether it’s your first time attending or you’ve joined us before, you’re welcome here.

Mental health challenges can feel isolating, but you do not have to go through them alone.
NAMI Detroit is now offering free peer-led support groups designed to create a safe space for conversation, encouragement, and connection. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, stress, or supporting a loved one through their mental health journey, these groups are here to remind you that support is available and community matters.
Our support groups are built around real conversations, shared experiences, and healthy coping strategies in a judgment-free environment.
What makes NAMI support groups different:
• Free and peer-led
• Safe, welcoming, and confidential
• Focused on connection and encouragement
• Available for individuals and family members
• Rooted in community and understanding
Our Connection Support Groups are tentatively scheduled for the first Thursday of each month.
Sometimes the first step is simply showing up.

Sometimes you just need to be around people who understand.

NAMI Detroit’s Connection Support Group is a space for adults 18+ to come together, talk openly, share experiences, and support one another in a judgment-free environment.

Whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, or just trying to navigate life, you don’t have to carry it alone. Some people come to talk, some come to listen, and some just need a positive space to sit in for a while. All of that is okay.

We’ll be discussing coping strategies, sharing resources, and building real connection through conversation and community.

Last year, this space at Wayne State’s campus was filled with real conversations, creativity, and people showing up for each other.

From art stations to peer support, WSYou Matter created something powerful. You could feel it.

We’re carrying that energy forward right here on Wayne State’s campus.

Tomorrow is about continuing what we started. More connection. More openness. More reminders that you’re not alone in this.

Let’s keep the ball rolling.
