FORCE Detroit is now putting new resources behind that labor through a $235,000 regranting initiative that will support a coalition of grassroots organizations working to reduce violence across the city.

The funding will support organizations participating in the Emerging Leaders Detroit Chapter, a growing coalition focused on outreach, advocacy, intervention, training, community engagement, and coordinated violence prevention work. Groups that have signed memorandums of understanding to participate include Black Bottom Gun Club, The Better Men Outreach Program, Fight the Good Fight, Kelly’s Kids Foundation, The GRND Foundation, Motivating Inner New Dreams, Seize The Smoke, Detroit Life Is Valuable Everyday, Team Pursuit, The People’s Action, and Solomon & Harris Consulting... FORCE Detroit Invests $235,000 in Grassroots Violence Intervention Work Across the City

05/20/2026

Are you ready for what FORCE Detroit has in store for the community this summer? Because we are just getting started. 🧡

This summer is about healing, opportunity, creativity, connection, and showing our young people that they deserve more. On May 30, FORCE Detroit will be hosting a Community Clean Up at Stein Park because community transformation starts with us. We cannot ask young people to care about their neighborhoods if we are not actively investing in them ourselves.

At FORCE Detroit, we work directly with high-risk young people who are actively impacted by violence, trauma, instability, poverty, and loss. Every single day we see the effects of unmet needs in our communities. That is why our work is holistic. We understand that before you can focus on success, healing, growth, or purpose, your basic needs must be met. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs teaches us that people need safety, stability, support, belonging, and care before they can truly thrive.

So instead of asking, “What’s wrong with you?” we ask:
What do you need?
How can we support you?
What does healing look like for you?

FORCE Detroit has a full-time embedded therapist on staff because mental health matters. That means we are not just telling people what to do — we are walking alongside them, listening to them, supporting them, and helping them process trauma in real time.

When I was younger, my grandmother used to always say, “I’m just glad to wake up in my right mind.” I did not fully understand it then, but I understand it now more than ever. In a world where so many people are silently struggling, protecting your peace, your mind, and your emotional health is everything.

And because our young people deserve spaces built FOR them, FORCE Detroit is officially launching our new Program Office on June 3, 2026. This space will be a hub for healing, creativity, mentorship, and opportunity. We will be offering:
🎙️ Podcast Studio Access
🎵 Music Classes + Music Studio
🎨 Art Therapy & Creative Programming
🎮 Gaming & Youth Engagement Space
🧠 Mental Health Support
🤝 Care Management & Community Resources
📚 Workforce & Personal Development Opportunities

This is bigger than a building. This is about creating safe spaces where our community can grow, heal, express themselves, and feel seen.

And yes — YOU are invited.

Policy isn’t abstract—it shapes what happens in our communities every day.
We’re fighting for House Bills 5586 & 5587 because they invest in what actually works.

Slide 1 – HB 5586
Creates a dedicated, sustainable funding stream for violence prevention.
👉 Do you think prevention should be funded long-term?
A. Yes
B. No

Slide 2 – HB 5587
Expands community violence intervention (CVI) programs across Michigan.
👉 What do you believe works best?
A. Community-led solutions
B. Traditional enforcement

Here’s the truth:
➡️ Violence is predictable
➡️ Violence is preventable
➡️ And communities already know what they need

These bills help put resources where they belong—
in the hands of the people doing the work.
🧡 This is how we build safer communities
🧡 This is how we save lives
🧡 This is how we create real change

The environment we protect isn’t just the Earth—it’s our communities. 🧡🌱

At FORCE Detroit, we believe safer neighborhoods, stable families, and access to opportunity are all part of a healthier environment.
Because what’s around us shapes what’s possible for us.
From community violence intervention to workforce development and youth leadership, we’re investing in environments where Detroiters can thrive—not just survive.

This Earth Day, we’re reminded:
🌱 Safe communities are sustainable communities
🌱 Stability is prevention
🌱 Investment in people is investment in the future
We’re building a freer, safer Detroit, one environment at a time.

Detroit, this is what real solutions look like

You’ve seen the headlines about teens gathering downtown—but here’s the truth:

Young people aren’t the problem.
The issue is a lack of safe, structured opportunities.

Recent coverage shows both sides:

📍 Teens showing up because they don’t have enough spaces designed for them:

📍 Real conversations happening about solutions and prevention:

At FORCE Detroit, we’re focused on what works:
✔️ Mentorship
✔️ Safe spaces
✔️ Opportunity
✔️ Real community connection

This is how we build a safer Detroit.

🧡 A freer, safer Detroit starts with our youth.

🧡

A surge in youth violence in Detroit last summer, which included the fatal shooting of a 4-year-old at a park, has sparked a new program aimed at preventing violence before it happens.
