10core Law Society

10core Law Society The 10CORE Law Society empowers youth and adults with information about owning real estate.

The 10CORE® Law Society has one goal, educating the public about real estate and real property law (“Property”). 10CORE® accomplishes this goal through the dedicated work of volunteer lawyers and law students who work through three committees, Scholarship, Educational Outreach, and Computer Donations. In addition to its primary goal, which is particularly needed given the importance of our country

’s real estate market and communities, additional benefits exist for all participants; namely:

PUBLIC

• Through the Law Society, the public will be empowered with continuous knowledge about Property;

• Through articles and town hall programs, citizens will be introduced to basic protocols or best practices in the real estate industry (which will simultaneously protect them from scam artists); and

• Stated simply, with knowledge, the public will make more prudent decisions about one of the most important transactions many will ever experience. Ultimately, through this exchange, 10CORE® will help build sustainable communities. LAWYERS AND LAW STUDENTS

• The Law Society will provide a platform for lawyers and law students to help the public, thereby enhancing the profession's commitment to providing pro bono services;

• Through synergy created with lawyers and law students working together, they will fulfill an obligation to educate the community; and

• Through joint activities, lawyers will simultaneously mentor students. LAW STUDENTS

• By coordinating activities with knowledgeable speakers and existing organizations within the community, supervised students will expand the network of information available to the public and provide access to housing related resources;

• By providing bilingual information during town hall meetings, the Law Society’s members will recognize and celebrate the diversity of our communities; and

• Through one of 10CORE®’s three committees (Scholarship, Educational Outreach and Computer Donations), supervised students will not only help the public, they will enhance their skills and benefit from meeting and helping others; notably,

• Through the Scholarship Committee, they will create another “law review” for the public; and

• Through the Educational Outreach and Computer Donations Committees, supervised students will enhance their oratorical, research, and writing skills.

***30-Year Freeze: Lack Of Progress On Racial Wealth Gap Since 1990s Signals Need To Try New Tactics

America made almost no progress toward closing the racial wealth gap in the 30 years from 1992 to 2022, new research from the National Community Reinvestment Coalition shows.

Median Black wealth was about 14% of median White wealth in 1992. In 2022, it was 15% – and the wealthiest 80% of Black households held less wealth than the median White household. Latinos, meanwhile, made comparably significant gains – but the 9 percentage point narrowing of the Latino-White wealth gap was a paltry return for 30 years of public policy efforts to expand opportunity.

The persistently massive gaps in wealth and homeownership are just the beginning of the worry raised in the report. What little progress was made over those three decades was also overly reliant upon owning a home – which only 46% of Black America does – and on that home not losing value.

Black family wealth is dangerously fragile, the analysis shows, because Black household net worths are far more tied up in home values. White wealth is far more diversified and therefore far more resilient to economic shocks.

America tried a lot of different things to repair racial economic inequality over the past three decades. The racial wealth gap barely moved.

Since 2010, the 10CORE Law Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, has been educating adults about real estate issues.

Since 2018, it has also been educating youth so that with this knowledge, they can be prepared to become homeowners as adults! The 40-hour Program provides them with the tools to “get ready to be ready” to be homeowners as adults.

The next program will begin March 2, 2024 and will run until May 25, 2024 (on Saturdays from 12-3). Participants must be between the ages of 16-20

Given the turmoil and anxiety in our country and in the world, 10CORE is even more convinced that this next year is the "right time" to expand its Housing Literacy Program ("Program").

The last "Student CEOs" (as we call them) who benefitted from this Program loved it because they concluded the Program with tools and hope.

As a result, and as discussed with HUD, 10CORE will keep expanding the Program because we need EVERY member of the next generation to "be ready!" However, that will only happen if we start earlier and empower them with life-skills now. Please help us … spread … hope.

So as we look forward to next year, here’s to a safe, healthy, prosperous, and productive one for you and your families!! An exciting year is on its way!!

10CORE has been working behind the scenes, but is ready to officially introduce S.W.A.G., its “housing” literacy program (“Program”).

It is past time to make the American Dream of homeownership a reality … for everyone and it will be done through this innovative Program one person, one family, one community at a time.

Stand by to see it implemented in your high schools, junior colleges, and colleges, among other places. It is time to plant seeds and establish a new normal for future generations.

As we look forward to 2023, the 10CORE Law Society looks forward to another year of providing “access to justice through legal literacy” and leveling the playing field … of information.

We look forward to expanding our S.W.A.G. Housing Literacy Program to empower high school and college students throughout Michigan and ultimately across the country to learn how to “buy their first houses.”

It is past time for this new normal. Thank you for your support!
