Kids' Corner & Art in the Park Brightmoor Kids' Corner's & Art in the Park is free after-school and summer art program for children of all ages in the Brightmoor neighborhood of Detroit.

Kids' Corner & Art in the Park is a free art club for kids of all ages located in the Brightmoor neighborhood in Detroit. During the school year (September-June) Kids' Corner is located at St. Christine's Soup Kitchen. In the summer (June-August) Kids' Corner moves outside to become Art in the Park finding place in various parks and gardens and playgrounds in the neighborhood. Kids' Corner grew ou

t of spontaneous artistic activities with children in and around the establishment of community gardens, parks and events in 2010-2011 along the Brightmoor Farmway in Detroit. These interactions demonstrated the lack of opportunities for children to access art in the neighborhood. It was also revealed that there was a strong passion in the children for making and enjoying hands-on artistic activities. In the Winter of 2012 Kids' Corner was founded to provide safe and fun after-school activities for children of all ages. Since its founding Kids' Corner has reached over 170 children and families. Kids' Corner is supported by: Neighbors Building Brightmoor, St. Christines Soup Kitchen, The Skillman Foundation & The Prevention Network. Kids' Corner Art in the Park will continue through August!
Join us for Mondays in August from 4:30-6:30pm at the Louisa Mays Spiral Bench Park, on Chalfonte and Lamphere.
*Weather note: In the case of rain or threatening weather Art in the Park will be canceled.

We are urgently looking for volunteers and parents to help run Kids' Corner when the new school year begins. Days are flexible (Mondays-Fridays) in the afternoon from 4:30-6:30pm at St. Christine's Soup Kitchen. Tasks include welcoming the children, setting up art supplies and snacks and facilitating creativity! Lots of fun and a great way to connect and build relationships with the wonderful kids that bless our community!

Tomorrow (Monday 4:30-6:30pm) will be our last Kids' Corner at St. Christine's. We'll be packing up our supplies, prepping art kits and much more! Come out to hang, help and get excited for Art in the Park 2014! After tomorrow we will be meeting at the Honey Bee Garden (on Lamphere) on Mondays for the summer, weather permitting!
