Our last sublimation printing workshop of 2026! 🎉

Join us at ISAIC from 10am–1pm on Saturday, November 14th, for another hands-on workshop introducing participants to sublimation printing using our Mimaki printer. Learn how the technology works and how it's used in textile production.

Each participant can bring one high-resolution image (JPEG, PNG, or PDF) to print onto fabric up to 14" x 18".

Thanks to the support of JPMorgan Chase, this workshop is FREE to all participants, with no prior experience necessary!

Join us in welcoming ISAIC's newest Industrial Sewing Specialist, Shae Johnson, to the team! 🎉

Shae fell in love with sewing and fashion at the early age of 9 by watching her mom. After her passing, she built her own fashion brand named Youreccentrics, centered around ethnical practices, high quality, and individuality.

She is now excited to share her experience with ISIAC and the team to help show the world that manufacturing doesn’t have to be harmful, and to put Detroit on the map as a fashion capital.

We’re so excited to have Shae on the team and can’t wait to see all that he brings to ISAIC!

Our ideal candidate is a hardworking sewing professional who’s ready to create high-quality garments and products while working closely with our design and production teams to solve problems, suggest improvements, and bring ideas to life.

In this role, you will:
🧵 Sew and assemble garments, prototypes, and samples using industrial and specialty sewing machines.
🔍 Inspect finished products to ensure accurate stitching, seams, measurements, and overall quality.
📐 Read and interpret sewing patterns, production drawings, and technical specifications to bring designs to life.
🤝 Collaborate with team leaders and production teams to troubleshoot sewing-related issues, improve processes, and ensure products are manufacturable.

Nothing says autumn like a fireside chat. 🔥

Last month at the SEAMS Association Fall Networking Conference in New Orleans, ISAIC VP of Advanced Manufacturing & Innovation Lionel Vargas Cruz joined Frank Henderson, President of Henderson Sewing Machine Co., for a fireside chat moderated by SEAMS Executive Director Will Duncan.

The question: How can cut-and-sew facilities not only survive, but thrive?

The conversation explored the power of collaboration, continuous improvement, workforce development, lean manufacturing and smart automation—and how these approaches can strengthen the case for domestic production.

From faster lead times and reduced waste to AI, robotics and automation, technology is already helping manufacturers improve efficiency, address labor challenges and build a more competitive U.S. manufacturing ecosystem.

And one message stood out: collaboration is key. By pooling capacity, sharing expertise and working together, smaller manufacturers can take on opportunities they might not be able to tackle alone.

The future of domestic cut-and-sew won't be built by doing things the way they've always been done. It will take people, partnerships, technology and a willingness to rethink how we manufacture in America.

Our 3D Printing Workshop is proof that advanced manufacturing is for everyone. ⚙️💡

In honor of Design Core Detroit Month of Design 2026, our 3D Printing Workshop brought together design, technology, and modern manufacturing to connect creatives with the tools and skills shaping the future of apparel production.

Participants explored how advanced manufacturing is transforming the way we design, prototype, and produce, then put those skills into practice by designing their own functional belt buckle.

Less overconsumption. ❌ More mindful, functional creation. ✔️

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Design Core Detroit for collaborating with us to make this workshop possible! We loved celebrating a month of creativity, collaboration, and Detroit design with all of you. ❤️

Connecting Detroit and Kortrijk through textile innovation 🤝

We were excited to welcome our fellow UNESCO City of Design members from Kortrijk, Belgium, to Detroit for Month of Design!

Stijn Debaillie of Designregio Kortrijk and Daphne Renier of Fedustria are in Detroit to lead conversations around textile innovation and creativity, while showcasing Spell Blanket—a textile design and manufacturing project now on display at Lolo's House, as part of the 2026 Detroit Month of Design exhibition.

While in Detroit, Stijn and Daphne stopped by ISAIC for a tour of our new headquarters, highlighting our expanded capabilities and Michigan’s only TUKAcenter.

No plans for Halloween? We know a place. 🎃👕

Join ISAIC on Saturday, October 31, from 10am–2:30pm for a special Halloween-themed Make Your Own T-Shirt Workshop! Get hands-on as you create your very own custom T-shirt with guidance from the ISAIC team.

This four-hour session includes a quick 30-minute break and is perfect for creatives who have experience using sewing machines and feel confident working with them independently and with supervision.

Participants are also invited to wear their Halloween costumes, following ISAIC's dress code.

We may be biased, but we think this is the perfect way to spend your Halloween afternoon. 👻
