Meet the Paws for Purple Hearts North-Mid Team! 🐾

Emma Coenen - Senior Program Instructor
Emma graduated from Bergin University of Canine Studies in 2020. She worked as the Development Manager and Assistance Dog Instructor at the university until joining Paws for Purple Hearts in 2022. She is connected to the military through her mother who served in the Army and is a Vietnam Veteran. Emma appreciates being able to give back to the military community through PPH’s unique programs. In her free time, she enjoys photography, traveling, and being outdoors.

Holly Hinote - Program Instructor
Holly graduated from Bergin University of Canine Studies in 2022 and became a Paws for Purple Hearts staff member shortly after graduating. In her free time, Holly loves to cuddle with her personal dog, Freya, bake sweet treats for others, and explore the Detroit area!

Another great field trip to kick off the new week! Staying focused, unobtrusive, and quiet while working are important for the success of the dog and handler, and Lois' hard work sure has been paying off 💜🐾

Pike wants to know if his business cards make him look official? 😉

We're so thankful for our volunteer puppy parents and who give our dogs such incredible experiences throughout their training to becoming a Service Dog. Pike is already making an impact on the Veterans in , and we couldn't be more proud of him and his puppy parent for their time and efforts to make this possible.

Thank you for welcoming Pike to join your team while he learns all there is to know about helping America's Warriors!

A little snow doesn't stop our dogs from training! Playing and exploring is an important part of the process to becoming a Service Dog, and Pike certainly has been enjoying all of the recent snow days here in the Detroit area ⛄🐾

Happy Friday! Learning how to become a Service Dog takes some serious (+fun) work, so our dogs get weekends off spent with their puppy parents. We're predicting lots of playtime and napping ahead! 🐾💜
