Point being we aren’t going to do this alone. The empowerment packs are probably the coolest thing we’re doing to date, so if you’ve been wanting to get involved but shy away from workshops and such, this is the perfect opportunity to see how it feels to be 🖤👁️

It doesn’t cost that much to empower. A trip to Costco for snacks or socks, a stack of gift cards so the girls can get something they need (or want!) or maybe you feel prompted to make something special. It’s easy to get wrapped up in summer shenanigans… we forget that this is still a hard time for many. Success is subjective. Something I think about often is scale—I’m glad my little org is small because we are authentic, the connections are real, and we play a very long game. At times I do get discouraged, and think we aren’t doing enough (I get caught up in the numbers.)
But I remember why I started this — to help women lead unapologetic lives. Looking back on everything as a whole, I’d say that mission is being accomplished continuously, in ways big, small, and sometimes even completely invisible.

Thank you to all who support that goal and to all the women who are showing up for THEMSELVES today.

Munai Newash has 8 years of experience (many of these in Chicago) in housing counseling, teaching homebuyer classes and financial literacy. She also meets with clients 1on1 to review their credit reports and prepare them for a successful homebuying experience. She currently works for Community Housing Network in Troy as the HUD Certified Housing Counselor.
