The Helping Hands Unit of our Court continues to do amazing work with our Shrine Kids. We provide emotional support and guidance as families navigate their journey with Shriners Children's.

In December 2024, Kaden and his family became part of our Helping Hands family. When they did, our very own Lady Judy O’Brien became their sponsor. Judy shared information with Kaden’s mom about Jay’s Juniors and encouraged her to apply.

Each year, Jay’s Juniors selects a small group of children with chronic or terminal illnesses and their families for a magical, all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World — a 5-day, 4-night adventure on a private charter plane. Only a limited number of children are chosen for this unforgettable experience.

This year, our very own Helping Hands–sponsored Shrine Kid, Kaden, was selected — and he’s GOING TO DISNEY WORLD! ✨

It’s our BIRTHDAY WEEK! We’re celebrating 105 YEARS as a Fraternal Charity Organization!

What were the Ladies in Detroit thinking 105 years ago when they helped establish Za-hir-u-din Court No. 7? While we are a separate and distinct Order from the Shriners, our Ladies were committed to supporting the Shrine’s official philanthropy, with membership originally tied to Masonic affiliation (until that requirement was later changed).

Our Court was Instituted on February 25, 1920, and chartered on May 15, 1920. Did you know that in June 1920, the Shriners Imperial Council voted to establish the “Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children”? From the very beginning, our Court has been actively involved with the hospitals!

As we reflect on this timeline of our history and the key dates that shaped our organization, we are proud to continue thriving today with the same values our founders held dear.

Shriners International was established in 1870.
Moslem Shriners was established in 1880.
LOSNA was founded in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1903.
The Shrine Circus was founded in Detroit in 1906.
Za-hir-u-din was founded in Detroit in 1920.
The first hospital was built in 1922.

Ladies of Za-hir-u-din Court's Helping Hands Unit attended a very special presentation of the Girl Scout Medal of Honor. Congratulations to Taryn on receiving this very prestigious award!

The Girl Scout Medal of Honor is a rare award given to Girl Scouts who have shown heroism and saved a life without putting their own life at risk. Earlier this year, while on school trip, Taryn helped save her mother's life.

We are 1️⃣ WEEK AWAY FROM THE BEST 5 DAYS OF SUMMER! We can't wait to see Our Lady Clown Unit at the Detroit Shrine Circus and The Michigan State Fair, LLC, happening at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi August 29-September 2!
These ladies will be at all 20 circus performances, plus entertaining children of all ages at the State Fair and around the midway. Thank you for all you do to bring joy and happiness to CHILDREN OF ALL AGES this Labor Day weekend.
