NAABA Michigan Chapter NAABA - Michigan is a newly formed association and a proud affiliate of the National Arab American Bar Association. Thank you and ahlan wa sahlan!

The goal of our association is to support the professional growth and advancement of legal professionals in our community and beyond. NAABA-Michigan is open to all law students, attorneys, law school graduates who went on to pursue other roles, and retired attorneys. We not only welcome diversity, we encourage it. Congratulations to Rula Aoun on her appointment to the Wayne County Circuit Court!

Rula Aoun is a graduate of the University of Michigan-Dearborn and earned her Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School in 2014. Her legal career includes experience in personal injury, civil litigation, family law, immigration, intellectual property, business law, product liability, and Michigan No-Fault.

She previously served as Legal Director of the Arab American Civil Rights League and has been an attorney with Cochran, Kroll & Associates since 2017. Since 2019, she has also served as a magistrate at Dearborn’s 19th District Court.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer appointed Aoun to the Wayne County Circuit Court, where she will begin serving on September 14, 2026.

Zenna Elhasan serves as Vice President and General Counsel at The Kresge Foundation and Secretary to its Board of Trustees. Her distinguished career includes serving as Corporation Counsel for Wayne County, Judicial Magistrate and Director of Probation for the 20th District Court, Partner at Allen Brothers, Assistant City Attorney for Hamtramck, and with the Michigan Department of Attorney General.

A University of Detroit Mercy School of Law graduate, Zenna has been recognized as a Crain’s Detroit Business Notable Women Lawyer and Notable Corporate Counsel, DBusiness Top Corporate Counsel, and the 2026 recipient of the Geraldine Bledsoe Ford Award. She was appointed to the Michigan Civil Rights Commission by Governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2020 and remains active with the State Bar of Michigan, Detroit Bar Association Foundation, and NAABA Michigan.
