Remember, in the world of self growth and healing, every mile is accomplished by taking small steps.

Change doesn't happen overnight, it happens over your lifetime by living the life you choose. Expecting anything else is just a disappointment/resentment in disguise.

While on your journey it is imperative to give yourself grace as we are not, nor we will ever be, perfect.

Think of it this way, we practice meditation, yoga, patience, whatever your working on. The key word is practice, meaning we will still make mistakes along the way, but continuing to practice will make us better. Now go do the fu***ng work! ~ me

After the first two days of headwinds followed by downpours, I'd have settled for anything but today was a winner, winner Skyline Chili dinner. 57 miles total with the first 38 mostly rolling downhill with a 10mph tailwind. The next 19 were a mix of short climbs and bomber downhills into rolling/flat back roads with a tailwind. I'd give todays route a 10/10.

I took my time and stopped for a few pics along the way ending at an RV AirBnB which happens to include its own pasture full of farm animals. Only mechanical of the trip happened today. The quick link decided it had enough and let go. The crappy part is the chain was brand new at the start of the ride.

Ove been extremely lucky this week in having the chance to ride down to Southern Ohio to attend Save A Warrior. I'll post about the program once I complete it. I have 13 miles to go and have to be there by noon tomorrow, Oct 9th. I'm required to surrender my phone for the weekend. If you have to get ahold of me, it's best to reach out to Wendy or Drew, as they can get through to me.

I'll post up about my experiences when I get home. Until then Stay Safe.

Day 3- 2025

I knew today was going to be a short day. I knew that because the weather report showed a 90% chance of showers and I didn't want to ride 4-5 hours in the rain.its just a horrible experience. I know because I've spent 3 days riding for hours in the rain and have promised myself to not do it unless absolutely necessary.

I planned for it, I even brought rain gear along to stay dry. That gear never made it out of the waterproof bag I stored it in, in case I needed it. I got wet. Hell, I was drenched. It started as a sprinkle and ended in a torrential downpour.

This was the first time in a long time I smiled and laughed and generally enjoyed myself while riding in terrible conditions. I stopped and smelled the roses (read took pictures). I wasn't overly worried about how fast I was going or when I would arrive. I didn't curse the rain or my luck or anything for that matter. I just lived in the moment and enjoyed the journey. I set this as my intention for the past two days. I focused on that intention while meditating this morning and you know what? It happened, I lived in the moment and realy, truly enjoyed the journey (ride).

I've always had a passion for writing. I've written pieces for myself on and off over the years. Today while living in the moment I started thinking about writing a book. I've had this thought before but today it really stuck. I'm going to think about it some more and see where that goes (another journey possibly). We'll see.

I guess all my rambling goes to: set your mind (intentions) to something and you can make it happen. What are you going to make happen?

I'm not going to lie, i haven't been on the bike much this year and I'm feeling it. 70ish miles in west central Ohio cornfields and a SW 12+mph headwind will beat your ass. But you know what? Not nearly as bad as C-PTS, depression, or anxiety. Ended the day at the Scioto Inn in Urbana, OH. Half way to my destination.

Last night on my way to Findlay, I finished the audio book, " A Cult of One" and today started the book, "How God Changes Your Brain". Both these books were recommended before I report to my Save A Warrior cohort. There's a lot in both books to unpack.

For me, I've picked up a couple of nuggets. Firstly, narcissists and codependents may have experienced similar things but were set on thier paths based on how they responded to the incidents.

Secondly, it really doesn't matter what you call your higher power, they are all basically the same and no matter what you believe, the thought of a higher power changes you brain structure.

These concepts are new to me and seem to go against mainstream thinking. I like that I'm being introduced to new concepts.

If you ever want to talk, please reach out and we'll make it happen.

Stay safe!

Jeff

Last night I Got Your 6 Tour started riding toward Hillsboro, OH to attend Save A Warrior. I made it to Findlay, OH and spent the night at the Hancock Hotel (no camping this trip). Huge shout out to my better half Wendy, for dropping me in Perrysburg, OH to shorten the ride since I got a late start yesterday.

I almost called her to come get me since I was battling a 15+ mph headwind. I decided that no matter what, this needs to get done so I pushed forward and 3 hours landed in Findlay.

I'll have some words of wisdom later today as I'll have plenty of time to think on my 70 mile trek to Urbana, OH where I'll be crashing at the Scioto Hotel for the night.

This post is LONG OVERDUE! I'll make it short and to the point, PTS is no joke and has impacted my life on and off for years. Recently I made some not so good choices. It really doesn't matter what they were we'll suffice to say they were really bad and impacted me in ways I could not even begin to understand. One was flaring my PTS and putting me in a dark place.

All of this has made me reconsider many choices I've made over the years and have moved me toward seeking help. This help is coming ion many ways; therapy, seeking God, sobriety, and help from a small organization in Ohio.

I was accepted to attend one of their "retreats" the second full weekend of October. It would be easy to drive the 290ish miles from home to there but that's not how we do things here at I Got Your 6. Instead, I will be riding from Toledo to the Fayetteville, OH area. I will be leaving on Oct. 6th and need to arrive by noon on Thursday, Oct. 9th by noon. My route will be approximately 225 miles over three and a half days.

Our cover photo asks the question, "What is your purpose?" Mine has been and with renewed energy will be to continue to raise awareness for our First Responders who suffer from PTS, depression, and anxiety.

Consider this a "mini" 2025 version of the I Got Your 6 Tour. I'll see you on the road!
