ery along an alley that spans one city block with high-quality, multi-color murals with signage to honr and explain the history of the pieces and the alley on garages and other surfaces. Between 1998 and 2005 I was developing habits of intentionally documenting my neighborhood's people and places. Eventually I was shooting in almost daily... especially focused on the streets and networks that I grew up around. .
This day we ventured out of the neighborhood a little past downtown. Adam, pictured, was a former mentee that would eventually introduce me to my mentor, Tom Stoye (). .
Tom gifted me my first digital SLR, a and taught me all that I would receive about the history, pioneers, and giants of photography. He encouraged me to be intentional and systematic about documenting my community and networks in a way that thinks forward 10+ years.

Parents, youth, and artists shared time and talents with each other at Studio Luevanos.

People bring paper, sketchbooks, pencils, markers, and ideas. We gather in garages and lots. This way we get to regularly share skills, make memories and create new art in a way that costs very little for the return.

“I bring my kids with me so we can spend time time together doing something we love. I want them to be able to open their eyes to the world of colors and creativity in person, not just on a screen.” - Miguel Faz
