See Me, Hear Me: Cancer Care Through the Lens of the AYA Community

Join us for a Community Conversation on Cancer led by Dr. Lauren Hamel, who will discuss her work with the Young Survivors Cancer Action Council to address the unique challenges faced by young cancer survivors. Through a patient-provider clinical communication intervention, a podcast sharing young survivors’ experiences, and other survivor-driven initiatives, the council works to enhance support, improve communication, and advance the needs of young people affected by cancer.

Dr. Kristen Purrington will discuss her research on why Black women with hormone-sensitive breast cancer are more likely to die from their disease than White women. Using patient data and molecular analysis, she aims to identify differences in tumor biology that could inform more personalized and equitable breast cancer care.
