CELEBRATE with us all the good in April!

• We passed out 21 Monthly Verse Cards! Here are some of the responses:
- When a woman returned after being away her cards hadn't been stolen! She is going to take them with her when she moves.
-"Oh yeah, it's a new month. Another one to go on the mirror"
-"Amen"
-She was excited when we gave her her cards. She had quite a few to receive since we hadn't seen her in a while. She had a big smile on her face. 😃
-A woman said she keeps every card, verse, etc and puts them in a ziploc bag so they don't get ruined.
-A woman thanked us for the MVC we gave her, she said how much she loved us.
-A woman asked for her MVC this time. We didn't have a chance yet to share with her and she came to the car asking for it. She said she keeps every single one. She rips the verses off the bags and if the other ladies are going to throw their meal bags away, she takes theirs too.
-A woman keeps every MVC and reads them all the time. "They have really gotten me through some hard times. I read them all the time"

• We passed out 2 devotionals, a woman asked for one before we had a chance to give it to her.

• We celebrated one birthday!

• Survivor Praise:
- A woman is doing well. She has a job (yay!) It's manual labor and she is doing it until she can find something more permanent. She's such a good worker that the owner of the company pays for an uber to get her from Detroit to where they are working. She went to the doctor’s this week and her check up went well.

Praises:

• A woman's dog bites are healing.

• A woman has been kept safe from a controlling man/situation.

• The two people living in a car, finally signed the lease and got the keys that night. She doesn't have a bed, but sleeping on the carpeted floor was so much better than the car. She was so thankful and praising God with us when we saw her the next night. We were able to go and visit them at their new place. She is very happy and she cooked her first meal: pasta. She was able to get the belongings she had from her mom. So much happier.

• We got to know a little more about a woman. Family, stories from the past. She opened up to us and we opened up to her.

• Even though a woman is so young and so much has happened to her she is so caring. She was in the house when we came taking care of another woman. Checking her blood pressure and watching over her.

• A woman is doing a lot better mentally and is clean. She has also gained some weight and looks much healthier. She is talking with family again.

• A man was the first one out the door to see us and get his meal. But when we only had two left and five people (four of them being women/girls) he gave us his meal back and said to give it to one of the women. That was a huge decision he made and not one he has done before.

• A woman was able to schedule a meeting to figure out a solution for her house so she doesn't lose it. It's a big step.

• A woman's blood pressure is doing a lot better. She has been drinking tea we gave her that helps with high blood pressure (she really liked it), we also gave her bananas which help with high blood pressure as well.

• A woman was able to attend her grandpa's funeral and was able to see her family.

• We found out a woman is in recovery (yippee!)

• A woman is doing really well regarding her leg and her last surgery. She has her stitches out. She came out two nights to see us and didn't have a cane or a walker. She was walking really well and looked great.

• A woman was excited we remembered her name!

So much in April to rejoice about! Thank you for all you do to make good happen in the women’s lives. It is so appreciated! 💜💙

PRAYER CHANGES THINGS Thank you for you faithful prayers each week, they are so appreciated!

This week's requests:

• We celebrated a woman’s birthday with her. This was her first time experiencing receiving a birthday bag and well-wishes from our team.
• Pray God’s protection for a woman, she expressed a concern regarding a man and we did not see her the rest of the week.
• Pray for success for a woman seeking a job. That God would provide good interview opportunities for her.
• Pray for the continued protection of women who were accosted in their home by a man who meant them harm. Pray that God would comfort and encourage them.
• Pray for a woman and a man who are facing the possibility of losing their home. Pray that God smooths the way for them to remain there.
• Pray for protection for people living in a house where the door was broken in. Without the door they are at risk of unwanted persons coming in.
• Pray that God relieves the pain of a woman with a chronic condition. She had a rough night and when we saw her she was hunched over in pain and had been having difficulty walking.
• Pray for a distraught woman. She couldn’t tell us her need through the tears as we prayed for her. God knows the details.
• Pray for the women we weren’t able to see. Some were not feeling well, and some were not able to come out to us. God knows the needs for each one we didn’t see.
• Pray for healing and protection for a woman who had to be rushed to the hospital.
• Pray for so many who were starving, they were asking for seconds. We gave them what we could. Pray God will provide where we couldn’t.
• Pray for a woman who asked for security. She is moving from house to house right now. Pray also for healing for her open wounds from a trip and fall.
• Pray for the health and wellbeing of two women. One has unhealed sores on her face and one has lost a lot of weight.
• Pray for a woman who is struggling with leaving a situation, so many things keeping her there. Pray God provides the strength for her to take the steps needed. Pray that he makes her way easy.
• Pray for a living situation involving seven vulnerable individuals. We are not able to share the details, but God know and will hear your prayers.

Thank you! 💙💜

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Reading through our posts you’ll notice how important prayer is to our organization. The Bible teaches us to bring everything to God in prayer, and he answers those prayers.

Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6.

Our Prayer Director:

• Covers the organization, the outreach teams, and the people we serve in prayer by praying throughout the month.

• They organize the outreach prayer requests each week, and the praise reports each month. They then forward them to our Social Media Director to be posted on our pages.

• They reach out to our team and board members on a regular basis making themselves available to pray for individual requests in confidence.

• We take confidentiality very seriously.
As the Prayer Director you may hear or learn about situations and events regarding the people we serve, or the members of Anchored Hope. It is imperative that this information is held in the strictest confidence.

If you feel led to serve in this volunteer position, or would like more information, please reach out to us at [email protected]

We’re looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you! 💜💙

Going out on outreach at the SAME TIME each week, and to the same area builds trust and consistency. The women can rely on Anchored Hope to be there and they come out right away because they’ve been watching eagerly for our vehicle to appear.

Thank you for your support that allows us to go out every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. 💙💜

TOP 5 NEEDS APRIL Thank you for all you do to provide for the women. It is so appreciated!

This months To 5 Needs:

Items can be purchased anywhere that’s convenient and affordable for you, or you can visit our Top 5 Amazon Wishlist (link below) and have them shipped directly to us. Either way we are so thankful!

• TRAVEL SIZE BUG SPRAY OR WIPES With it now being spring and moving into summertime the bugs are finding their way back to pester. Some of the women live in tents or in houses that get infested with all types of bugs. To give them some relief, we offer them bug spray or wipes that they can put on themselves and their clothing to help give them relief from the bugs.

• ALOE WIPES Sunburns are one of the main concerns during the summer. Many get bad burns and end up in the hospital for treatment. The aloe wipes give them some relief from the pain and help soothe the burning.
• CHAPSTICKS Chapped lips are a problem both in the winter and in the summer. Chapstick helps keep their lips from drying out and cracking.

• SALTY SNACKS Anchored Hope makes meals multiple times a month and we like to put a salty snack in each one. Chips, goldfish, cheez-its, crackers, etc, are a great add in to our meals and much appreciated.

• PUDDING CUPS We also like to add a sweet treat to the meals and pudding is a favorite of all.
