Congratulations to Andrés Ospina and the entire Latino Voices in Tech™ team for reaching this amazing milestone at Michigan Tech Week. This achievement reflects the power of community and the importance of creating spaces where Latino voices, entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders can be seen, heard, and empowered.

A few days ago, the third edition of Latino Voices in Tech took place at the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation—a space built around real experiences, authentic stories, and insights from Latinos working in the tech industry—stories you don’t hear in traditional panels or pitch presentations.

A huge thank you to our speakers—David R. Medina Álvarez, Ezequiel Darre “Zeke,” and Danette Duron-Willner—for sharing their personal journeys and inspiring our community.

Thank you to DHDC and Fantazma Market & Café for hosting and supporting this experience.

Laura Chávez, co-facilitating alongside you created a powerful dynamic that resonated throughout the room.

Special thanks to Andres Ospina for creating this initiative—none of this would be possible without your dedication and commitment behind the scenes.

We also thank motmot and P.A.D. (Personal Apportion Dwellings®) @ pad.space for showcasing their demos and adding another layer to the experience.

Most importantly, we are grateful to our sponsors: Ideal, Laurie Sall, Raíces Detroit, and Clearedheaded LLC.

We are building this—one story, one voice, one event at a time. 🚀

Latino Voices in Tech™ Returns — Elevating Latino Representation in Michigan’s Tech Ecosystem

On Saturday, March 21, we will host the 3rd edition of this growing platform dedicated to amplifying leadership, innovation, and representation across Michigan’s technology and startup landscape.

This initiative was created with a clear purpose: to provide visibility, voice, and meaningful representation for Latino and Latina professionals in tech. In an industry where diverse perspectives are still underrepresented, Latino Voices in Tech™ creates space for our community to be seen, heard, and connected.

This edition will feature curated TED-style talks from Latino leaders who are actively shaping Michigan’s tech startup ecosystem — building careers, launching companies, driving innovation, and creating measurable impact. These conversations are not only inspiring, they are essential to expanding access and opportunity for the next generation of Latino talent.

We are excited to welcome respected voices who are driving real change across the ecosystem. Speaker announcements are coming soon.

We are also proud to recognize Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation (DHDC) and Fantazma Market & Café as our Community Champions for this edition, helping us strengthen the bridge between innovation and community.

🚀 Latino Voices in Tech came alive once again—this time in the heart of Southwest Detroit at Mexicantown CDC, where innovation met identity.
This powerful gathering brought together Latino professionals, students, and allies to imagine a future where we are not just included—but leading in technology, science, and industry.
🎙️ Our theme, "Rewriting the Narrative: Latinos, Education, and Access to Tech," challenged us to rethink who gets to shape the future—and how we ensure equity in a rapidly evolving world.
Keynote speaker Jesse Venegas took us on a compelling journey from the industrial age to the digital revolution and into the new frontier of AI and machine learning. His insights reminded us that staying informed and future-ready is critical—not optional.
🔥 Our panelists brought heart and hard truths. Danette Duron-Willner, Juliette Antwan, CISA, Christian Duran, Eduardo Salas and Ezequiel Darre
opened up about the barriers, breakthroughs, and the resilience it takes to thrive in spaces where Latinos are still underrepresented. Their stories were raw, inspiring, and deeply needed.
🎤 A special thanks to Laura Chavez-Wazeerud-Din, who guided the event as MC with grace, energy, and authenticity.
Behind every successful event is a village. Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, or worked behind the scenes. Latino Voices in Tech is not just a moment—it’s a movement. And we’re just getting started.
🙏 Shoutout to Andrés Ospina for co-leading this vision with such heart and purpose.
Let’s keep building, sharing, and empowering. Because the future of tech must include all of us.
