We’re making room at the table. 🌿

We gathered for our Cohort Cookout—bringing together alumni, friends, and participants stepping into a new season with us.

There was good food, plenty of laughter, new introductions, familiar faces, and time to simply be together. As we prepare to welcome our newest cohort, we’re reminded that community isn’t only built in our sessions—it’s built around tables, through conversation, and in the ordinary moments where we choose to know one another.

We’re grateful for everyone who came out to eat, connect, fellowship, and help us welcome what’s next. 💛

Here’s to another season of learning, creating, growing, and belonging together.

That’s a wrap, folks! 🎉

We ended this year with a bang!

We kicked things off with an incredible (albeit rainy ☔️) graduation ceremony where we literally crowned our participants, celebrating not only what they accomplished, but who they have become throughout this journey.

Then, that following Friday, we headed upstate to a beautiful retreat space to slow down, reflect, and dream about what comes next. Participants shared their final projects, celebrated one another’s work, and reflected on the growth, challenges, and transformation they’ve experienced over the past year.

One of our favorite parts was hearing everyone speak life into each other’s next steps. It was a reminder that this cohort has been about cultivating people, imagination, community, and the courage to faithfully step into what’s next.

We would like to thank all of the family, friends, loved ones, and community members who have supported us in making these events happen. Whether it be with food, providing space, supporting our participants, or even prayer. It means so much to us, and all of it has helped us have a wonderful experience this year!

We so proud of this group and deeply grateful to have walked alongside them this year. Here’s to new beginnings. ❤️

Last month, our community explored Sabbath in all its forms through rest, imagination, reflection, release, feasting, and play.

During our Sabbath retreat, we spent intentional time unplugging from distraction and reconnecting with God, ourselves, and one another. Together, we practiced rhythms of stillness through scripture reading, prayer, silence, reflection, and communal rest.

Ny’Ea guided us through beautiful movement-based practices centered around release, embodiment, and making space for God to meet us gently and honestly. Her leadership helped create a space where people could slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with their bodies and spirits.

We also had the gift of learning from Rev. Denise Posie, who led us in conversation around discerning God’s voice and our call through Sabbath rest. Her wisdom, honesty, and care challenged us to think more deeply about rest not as escape, but as sacred practice.

Throughout the month, we reflected on Sabbath as both “Rest & Imagination” and “Feasting & Play” reminding ourselves that rest is not simply stopping work, but making room for delight, joy, presence, and renewal.

During this month, we had so many moments of fun and play. We practiced intentionally slowing down, laughing, sharing meals, being creative, and simply being together. Those moments reminded us that joy, community, and presence are also sacred parts of Sabbath.

One of the invitations of the retreat was to disconnect from constant noise and digital distraction as much as possible. In doing so, many of us found clarity, peace, creativity, and a deeper awareness of God’s presence.

We’re deeply grateful for everyone who shared space, stories, questions, movement, laughter, meals, and rest with us this month 🤍

We wrapped up February with an impactful trip to Washington, D.C., centered around faith, justice, and community.
We spent time in the National Museum of African American History and Culture, where we engaged the history of our people and reflected on how lament connects to truth-telling, justice, and resilience.
Throughout the trip, we had space for honest conversations about faith, doubt, and what it looks like to follow God in real life. Through group discussions, we were reminded that it is okay to wrestle, ask questions, and hold different perspectives while still staying rooted in faith.
We also met with Reverend Kip, who shared how his church actively serves the community through outreach, food programs, and youth initiatives. His perspective challenged us to think about how faith and justice come together in real, tangible ways, and reminded us that lasting change starts with the heart.
A highlight of the trip was spending intentional time with Reverend Dr. Joy,and her husband, Brian and their little niece, Josie. We shared meals, played games, laughed, and had meaningful conversations about what it looks like to experience rest, joy, and community while still holding space for lament.
We ended the trip at Alfred Street Baptist Church for their Black History Month celebration, where we experienced a powerful service that honored Black history through music, dance, and storytelling.
This trip wasn’t just about what we learned, but how we experienced it together. From deep reflection to moments of joy, we were reminded that this work is meant to be carried in community.
Grateful for this experience and everything it continues to shape in us.
