NOLA Jesters!!! I will be at the Atchafalaya Welcome Center for a Motorcycle Awareness Campaign event this Saturday helping Chapter B. If anyone wants to come out and help out we will be indoors handing out signs, cups and plastic trash bags to the travelers that stop in. We plan on starting at 10am and stay until around 2pm. We will also have EWMA information too!! Since the location is in the middle of the swamp you can bring something to eat for lunch, there is a snack machine on location.

LAISSEZ BON TEMPS ROULER AU RENDEZVOUS!
Let the good times roll at the Rendezvous. The LA District is inviting all LA District members to join together for a fun-filled ride to the EWMA Rendezvou this summer in Sharonville, OH. We are planning a riding event similar to the "40 to Phoenix" ride in the old GWRRA days. Plans are for the route to depart Vicksburg, MS on Sunday, August 30, and continue with overnight stops in Tupelo, MS, Bowling Green, KY and Lexington, KY, arriving in Sharonville, OH, Wednesday afternoon, September 2nd. Interstate highway travel will be minimized. You can depart anytime in the mornings you would like, with the goal of everyone meeting at the next stop for evening social events. You might elect to do some of the following along the way: Visit the Mississippi Petrified Forest, the Tupelo National Battlefield, the childhood home of Elvis, drive the Natchez Trace where you will find the Cypress Swamp, Pharr Mounds and the Tennessee River, spelunk the Lost River Cave and Mammoth National Park, tour the National Corvette Museum, see where Abraham Lincoln was born, shop for souvenirs at the Wild Turkey or Woodford Reserve Distillery, snap a selfie at the Kentucky Castle, ride some scenic KY bluegrass trails through thoroughbred country, take in the KY Horse Park, the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum before arriving at Rendezvous.
Once at Rendezvous, you can shop with the vendors, attend safety presentations or participate in many guided and self-guided rides which the EWMA leadership has set up for you. Check the rides out in the "On the Fly Magazine" found on the EWMA webpage. You can register for the rides at www.rivordroad.com/. You must be registered for the Rendezvous before you can register for the rides.
Returning home, everyone will be on their own. Our chapter will depart on Sunday the 6th, taking the most direct and fastest route home.

As the date approaches, I will come back with hotel recommendations and the list of social events planned. Each person will be responsible for their own reservations and route prep.

Hey everyone! The annual district business meeting is coming up this Saturday, January 10th. The bad part is it will be in Pineville Louisiana. The good part is being able to see friends and members again. In case you are interested in making the trip please let me know. It will be at 6090 West Range Rd Pineville LA and starts at 10am. It should last a few hours at most, we usually have lunch at Outlaws BBQ restaurant before heading home. Becky and I will be leaving around 6:30am. Next on the agenda is a tri district event in Hope Arkansas, April 30th to May 2nd. The founder and president of EWMA is planning on attending. I would think there will be time for a Q&A session while they are at the rally. This information is also on the district FB page. Here's a link:

Happy Thanksgiving to all past and present members of our little group, please pray for those that are in need. I hope to start planning rides again soon so any suggestions would be great. I do have a list of past rides from Chapter K ride coordinators. Hope to see you all soon!!

A few years ago we had chapter ON-G from Ontario Canada in town for a chapter visit and again for one of the last Louisiana GWRRA District Conventions. One their members, Jack Gettis, passed away recently. Over the last few years he had issues with internal organs. I send a message to his wife Linda from the chapter. Please keep Linda in your thoughts.

I was looking for a ride destination today. I saw that the guy that owned the cypress museum in Pierre Part is presently closed due to the passing of the owner. A few of chapter members went there a few years ago. Mr. Morales family sold the majority of the driftwood art and raw wood. Perhaps the place will reopen one day.
