Posted on DeSoto Park fence around July 20, 2026 (66 days) after the sudden “No Trespassing” signs put up with no other public communication from the outgoing Delaware Township Trustee on May 15th.

No public official response (other than this better, more secured sign pictured) from any Delaware Township/County officials regarding the 131-hand signed Community Signed Communication Petition filed on July 2nd regarding upkeep and future plans for a park.

The DeSoto Community Park and Ball Diamonds remain closed, and as of today, there has been no public notice or explanation from Delaware Township Trustee Denise Johnson-Thornburg regarding the closure that began on May 15, 2026.

In response, members of the DeSoto community have organized a petition requesting clear and transparent communication about the sudden closure and the removal of active community volunteers. The petition will be submitted by the end of this week.

The goal of this petition is simple: to request open communication and answers regarding decisions that affect our community park, ball diamonds, volunteers, and residents.

A staple of Midwest drag racing since 1960, Muncie Dragway has officially been listed for sale. The Daniels family, which has owned and operated the historic Indiana facility for the past 14 years, says racing activities will continue as scheduled while a new owner is sought.
