DeSoto was well represented at the Build Beds for Kids event on Saturday October 3rd in Irving TX. From left to right: in red, volunteers for the Denise Valentine Foundation, in the gold Lion's vest, DeSoto Lions Club President Russell Hooper and on the right representatives of the DeSoto Junior R.O.T.C.. They, and other team members, were all there to build beds for kids that do not have a bed to sleep on each night. The event was a joint project of Sleep in Heavenly Peace and Lions Districts 2-E2 & 2-X1. The DeSoto Lions are making a difference in our community. Image that you are a child without a bed to sleep on at night, and through the efforts of Sleep in Heavenly Peace and the Lions, your own bed is delivered to you at no charge and that bed comes with a mattress and all the coverings. Now image how you can serve others through your local Lions Club.

The DeSoto Lions Club will meet again this Tuesday, October 13th at Noon. However, there will be a one time change in our meeting location. Due to Acapulco's Restaurant being closed that day, we are meeting at Ernie Roberts Park located at 515 East Pleasant Run Road in DeSoto. We will have a picnic lunch under one of the park pavilions. You will need to bring your own sack lunch.

Fall is here so let's enjoy some of the cooler weather.

Visitors Welcome.

The DeSoto Lions have been serving the DeSoto community for over 75 years. From building beds for children that do not have a bed to sleep on to providing eyeglasses for school age students. Much of what the Lions do goes unnoticed, but the roots of 75 years of service go deep. So, why not become a Lion? You can make a difference in your community.
