A huge thank you to Joseph and Whitney Jablonski for being our 2026 SGM Golf Outing Corporate Sponsor with a gift of $5,000 in memory of their beautiful daughter, Colby Joe Jablonski! We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to walk with them as they met their sweet baby girl years ago, and grateful for our ongoing relationship with their amazing family as they continue to honor the life of their precious daughter! Together, we are changing the story for grieving families! 💕💙👣🤍

“How many kids do you have?”

I always pause.

Because the answer depends on whether you’re asking my heart… or my reality.

My heart counts the babies who never got to take a breath.
The ones I dreamed about, prayed for, and loved long before I ever got to meet them.

The world only counts the children it can see.

But a mother doesn’t stop loving her baby because their life was measured in weeks instead of years.

So every time I’m asked that question, there’s a silent answer I’ll probably never say out loud.

I have children the world never got to meet.

I've told the story of Faith, Grace, and Thomas thousands of times, both with written and spoken words. If you listen closely, you will hear a catch in my voice when I get to the part where I call my husband to speak the words that will change his life forever. It was the nurse that spoke the words to me, "I'm so sorry. There's no heartbeat." But, it would be my words that changed his life forever. My words that would leave my young husband, speeding on the loneliest drive to the hospital...although there was no reason to rush anymore.

Since that day, 30 years ago, the SGM Comfort Team and I have walked with hundreds of families as the founder and director of Sufficient Grace Ministries, and I've had the humbling privilege of watching so many fathers navigate through shock, pain, grief, helplessness as they process a variation of those life-changing words.

I've watched fathers...
-parent their fragile babies with their first bath, gently washing the tiniest feet with their strong, weathered daddy hands

- place a bracelet on the most delicate wrists of their baby daughters

- help to get a footprint on a baseball for their sons

- use their fatherly fingers to diaper their little ones

- paint the finger nails of their little girl whose breaths stopped hours before

- muster the strength to whisper (or speak boldly a prayer) over their child as she slipped from earth to heaven's peace

- stand beside a tiny grave, carry the casket holding the weight of the world, digging the grave that would hold a casket he built with his own hands

- comfort the devastated mother of their child, while pushing aside his own pain

I've watched the beauty, love, strength, compassion, courage, and brokenness that comes when a man is stripped and helpless...yet bravely warriors on to breathe the next breath...for his family.

Grieving Fathers, we see you. We see you and we honor you on this Father's Day. You are the heroes in our stories...and we know that you are often not recognized as you carry your grief silently while balancing your families daily needs. You are the protectors, the defenders, the providers, the comforters, the warriors that we need. And, we are so grateful for each one of you. Please know that you are seen, loved, appreciated...and that your children are remembered, not only the ones on earth...but the ones you carry in your heart.

Sufficient Grace Ministries is here, 24/7, to walk with families experiencing the loss of a baby. In the last 10 days, our comfort doulas have honored the lives of 16 babies in-person, our virtual team answering multiple calls for each one - 11 of the babies were served over the course of 5 days. Multiple additional families walking through a life limiting diagnosis or in need of support for an emergent loss received virtual support and resources from our certified comfort doulas on the virtual team. Resources were sent to multiple states in the US this week. Guidance and mentoring was offered to organizations who support grieving families in three states this week. In a couple weeks, our team with travel to Georgia (Sponsored by Footprints on the Heart) to train birth professionals from multiple hospitals and organizations.

SGM Family Services navigates follow up support, connection for resources when families need financial support for funeral costs from other amazing organizations, peer support with one-on-one comfort doulas and support groups, meetings with medical staff and organ procurement organizations for perinatal hospice patients, birth planning, memorial/funeral planning, and so much more. Please pray for this amazing team of servant hearts and the families they serve. 💕💙👣🤍

We stand with the city of Toledo and with the victims and families of yesterday’s tragic shooting at the Old West End Festival, where twelve people were shot and injured. Toledo holds a special place in our hearts at Sufficient Grace Ministries, as it is the city where we serve the most families and it lies in the heart of NW Ohio, our home. We stand not only with the families and individuals who were injured, but with the healthcare professionals and first responders who rushed into harm’s way and with our own team of gladiator servant-hearted doulas who continue serving families walking through loss, even while shooters are still at large. We stand with the neighborhoods who feel violated by this act, with our beloved Toledo hospitals, and we stand with the entire city of Toledo. Our hearts and our prayers are with you all. sufficientgraceministries.org

We fill a lifetime of love and memories into moments. That’s what it means to parent a baby whose life is brief. The beauty in the broken is that our children only knew love on this earth, and they are wrapped forever in perfect love for eternity.
