First, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the person who found Astro and gave him a chance at survival.

At Kittyland, we have so many stories about how our cats come into our care, and sadly, far too many of them are heartbreaking. Astro was found inside a taped-shut Amazon box on the side of the road. No animal should ever be left helpless like that, wondering whether anyone will find them in time.

We understand how overwhelming it can be when you need help for an animal and every shelter seems full. Being referred from one organization to another can feel like an endless loop, and we know how frustrating and discouraging that can be. Life happens, circumstances change, and sometimes people find themselves in situations they never expected. But abandoning an animal in a sealed box or leaving them somewhere they may never be found is not the answer. If you’re struggling to care for an animal, please keep reaching out to rescues, animal control, and community resources for help. Even when an immediate solution isn’t available, please give that animal a chance to survive.

We also want to encourage everyone in our community to be mindful when passing boxes, bags, or other containers left along the side of the road. If it is safe to do so, please stop and check. You never know what might be inside, and taking a few moments to look could save a life. If you find an animal in distress, contact local animal services or a rescue for assistance.

Astro’s story could have ended very differently. We hope his story reminds everyone that even one small act of kindness can mean the difference between life and death.

If you would like to donate towards Astros care you may do so on our website! Thank you! ❤️🐾
