TAKE LEGISLATIVE ACTION. All NARFE members are encouraged to review the “NARFE Bill Tracker” in the monthly NARFE Magazine, and to go to www.narfe.org to use NARFE’s Legislative Action Page under Advocacy to send sample letters, emails, texts, and social media posts, to their legislators in support of NARFE positions. Your participation is crucial in the pursuit of justice for federal employees and retirees. Current issues there include: (1) The Social Security Fairness Act, HR. 82, and S. 597, which call for repeal of the WEP/GPO. A total of 218 house members have signed a discharge petition to force a floor vote on HR 82. (2) The Equal COLA Act, H.R. 866, and S. 3194, which call for giving FERS retirees the same full COLA that CSDRS retirees receive. (3) The Saving the Civil Service Act. HR. 856 and S. 274, which would safeguard our merit-based civil service from potential disruptions and ensure our government remains nonpartisan. Action on these bills is still possible in the current 118th Session of Congress. All NARFE members are urged to log onto NARFE Legislative Action Center – NARFE and use the Legislative Action Center to contact their Representatives and Senators urging endorsement and support for these bills.

Chapter 112 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) will meet Tuesday, August 8, at the Sunny Street Café, 11692 Manchester Road, Des Peres, MO 63131. All active and retired federal employees are welcome.

Come and learn how NARFE is working to enact the Social Security Fairness Act, HR 82, which would repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO). Learn also about the Equal COLA Act, HR 866, which would use the full COLA for FERS, rather than the reduced version now in effect.

The meeting room will open at 11 AM, we will order lunch by 11:30 AM. We ask that participants at in person meetings be fully vaccinated for Covid-19, and not be currently covid positive or quarantining. Also, we ask that participants wear a mask, except when eating or drinking.

The WEP/GPO penalizes public servants for their hard work and dedication, reducing their earned
Social Security benefits. The Social Security Fairness Act (HR 82/S597) is a crucial step towards
rectifying the WEP/GPO injustice. Help us put an end to this unfair policy, spread the word, and take
action here!
• Join the fight to repeal the WEP/GPO! With gaining momentum in Congress, it’s time to support
again and ensure fair retirement benefits for public servants! You can help bring about the change
our public servants deserve by clicking here!

• Federal retirees deserve equity in cost-of-living adjustments! The Equal COLA Act (HR 866) is a vital
piece of legislation that seeks to bring parity to how COLAs are determined under CSRS and FERS.
Let's stand together and support HR 866 to ensure fairness in retirement benefits. Share this post and
help advocate here. Let's make our voices heard!
• Federal retirees rely on the cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) to keep up with rising expenses.
However, current adjustments are not fairly calculated and result in annuities decreasing in value over
the years. Enough is enough! Join us in ensuring federal retirees maintain the value of their retirement
annuities they have earned in public service, and urging members of Congress to cosponsor
