WILPF US is excited to share a few select tiles from our national campaign: Crafting Justice: Gaza Memorial Quilt.

As the genocide in Gaza continues, WILPF US invited the public to co-create an art piece by crafting and sending in fabric tiles for inclusion in a social justice quilt.

As Juneteenth approaches, there is an opportunity to move beyond commemoration and into practice by examining what reparations could be within our own communities and relationships through a shift toward cultural regeneration.

For generations, systems built on the exploitation of African people have shaped the very architecture of the modern world. As the United States approaches 250 years of existence, the nation continues to wrestle with the unresolved contradictions embedded in its founding. To understand the birth of this nation, nothing less than a 500-year historical lens will do.

Reparations take shape through decisions made within communities and through resulting policies. Cultural practice shapes how these efforts take root and endure. The visible outcomes of repair are shaped by the invisible values that guide them.

This Juneteenth offers an opportunity to reflect on what repair requires in practice. Our collective work cultivates an imagination that moves through justice to joy.

Public Testimony for Peace: WILPF Branches Unite Against Plutonium Pit Expansion

In May 2026, members of WILPF’s Atlanta, East Bay, and San Francisco branches participated in a nationwide effort to oppose the US government’s plan to produce new plutonium pits for nuclear weapons.

These testimonies below were part of a series of public hearings organized by the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) to gather input on the draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) for the proposed nationwide expansion of plutonium pit production. WILPF members joined with allies, including Tri-Valley Cares Western States Legal Foundation, Nuclear Watch New Mexico, Concerned Citizens for Nuclear Safety, and others, presenting strong, united opposition to plutonium pit production.

Resources are available on the WILPF US website to guide participation and amplify opposition to the expansion of plutonium pit production.

Last month, we facilitated community dialogues on polarization and war.

During a stop in Boston, we partnered with WILPF Boston to host a public panel on advancing social justice. Panelists included AFSC’s Healing Justice Program Director King Downing, Wellesley College student and union advocate Peyton Durkee, and Boston Climate Action Network board member Loie Hayes. Nickenley Turenne’s family also joined us to share their lived experience of violence here at home.

That same day, we spoke at Northeastern University during Professor and WILPF member Val Moghadam’s Women and Political History class. We shared WILPF’s history, our organizing today. Students spoke openly about war’s impact on their families in Lebanon and Palestine and asked how they could move beyond protest into sustained action. I invited them to mobilize with WILPF.
