🌡️ HEAT ADVISORY | July 26 – August 1, 2026 🌡️

The Des Moines metro area is expected to experience several days of dangerous heat and high humidity through Saturday, August 1. Heat index values may climb well into the 100°–110°F range during the hottest parts of the day.

🔥 Stay Safe:
• Drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty.
• Limit outdoor activities between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and sunscreen.
• Take frequent breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas.
• Check on elderly family members, neighbors, young children, and those without air conditioning.
• Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle—even for a few minutes.

🐾 Remember that pavement can become extremely hot and burn pets' paws. Walk dogs during the early morning or evening when temperatures are cooler.
⚠️ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or has a body temperature above 103°F, call 911 immediately.
Stay weather-aware, monitor local forecasts for updates, and take this prolonged heat seriously. A few simple precautions can prevent heat-related illness.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe! ☀️💧

Heat advisory continues today with heat indexes of 105 possible. Followed by the potential for strong storms tonight.

We would like to thank Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack & Hotel for there generous $30,000 donation from the Community Betterment Grant. These funds will go towards equipping our primary ambulance with a power loading cot system and EMS cot. This will help minimize the risk of injury to our responders and patients.

From the bottom of our heart thank you for your support, this couldn’t have happened without this donation.
