I’m Doing a New Thing

Scripture: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” Isaiah 43:18–19 (NLT)
Isaiah 43:18–19 reminds us not to dwell on the former things because God is about to do something new. He is preparing to move in ways so extraordinary that they may seem impossible in our natural minds. But what seems impossible to us is never impossible with God. He is the God who makes a way where there seems to be no way.
I recall a season in my own life (and I’m sure many of you can relate) when I struggled to let go of the past. Disappointments, hurts, missed opportunities, and unanswered questions weighed heavily on my heart. I found myself replaying the “what ifs,” the “if onlys,” and the “I wish I had…” Those thoughts became chains that kept me from moving forward into the future God had prepared for me.
Then the Holy Spirit gently reminded me that I could not embrace what God was doing ahead of me while clinging to what was behind me.
I had to intentionally say goodbye to yesterday- yesterday’s anger, yesterday’s pain, yesterday’s disappointments, yesterday’s turmoil, and yesterday’s regrets. Only then could I say hello to the new doors, new opportunities, new relationships, and new chapters that God was already designing for my life.
So often we become so focused on what we have lost that we fail to notice the doors God has already opened. We spend so much time looking backward that we miss the blessings standing right in front of us.
Today, God is asking you to release the past into His hands. Trust Him with the chapters that have closed so you can fully embrace the ones He is writing now. He has not forgotten you. His plans for your life are still good, and His promises still stand.
Let go.
Let God.
And step confidently into the new thing He is doing. There is peace waiting for you. There is joy waiting for you. There is purpose waiting for you. There are opportunities waiting for you. Don’t allow yesterday to rob you of tomorrow.
Prayer
Father, thank You that You are always at work, making all things new. Help me release the hurts, disappointments, and regrets of yesterday. Give me eyes to see the new opportunities You are placing before me and the courage to walk through every door You open. I choose to trust Your plans over my past. Lead me into Your perfect peace, joy, and purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
