Caring for Orphans and Widows

James 1:27 (NIV) “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

Four months ago, Empowered to Restore Ministries received a heartfelt plea from Pastor James in Liberia, who was entrusted with the enormous responsibility of finding help. I told Pastor James we would only help if he’d consider overseeing the 50-acre orphanage home to 56 precious children. The facility, owned by an 84-year-old selfless woman, was in dire need of repair and struggling to provide basic necessities. Upon hearing about the situation, my husband and I felt an unshakeable sense of purpose, compelling us to lend a helping hand despite our existing commitments. We surrendered the matter to prayer, and after two weeks of fervent contemplation, the burden to respond only grew stronger.

Miraculous breakthroughs ensued when a windstorm damaged a 14-room dormitory, but timely assistance came from King Bruce 1st of Ghana, who generously help fund the roofing project. Furthermore, numerous donors rallied together, contributing to the children's welfare, while our team spearheaded gardening and livestock projects. A fruitful partnership was forged with Crown Funding and Foundation for Farming Intl. In addition, a Korean missionary mobilized his church to spearhead renovation efforts, exemplifying the power of unity and compassion.

Our ultimate goal is to empower the orphanage to become self-sufficient, and we invite you to join hands through prayer and active involvement. We encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit how you can be part of this life-changing endeavor, contributing to a brighter future for these precious lives.
