Here’a to the dedicated committee members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes over the past year to make the Iowa FFA Bid Calling Invitational State Contest such a tremendous success. From countless phone calls and scheduling to planning and preparation — this event simply doesn’t happen without their commitment. And they’re already hard at work planning for 2027!

A special thank you to Paul McCartan, Corey Fraise, Jim Huff, Rod Backes, and Justin Steward. Not pictured is David Whitaker, who was busy clerking and taking photos — though he forgot to grab a selfie of himself!

We also want to recognize Sonny Jensen, Kelsey Brown, Doug Head, TJ DeMoss, Brey Hansen, Ann Whitaker, the Whitaker Team clerks/cashiers, Bridget Stiler, and Heath DeYoung for keeping everything running smoothly yesterday.

Thank you to all of our student participants who were able to make it yesterday, despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions across much of the state of Iowa, as well as to all of the buyers in the audience who made it out. Your participation made the event even more special.

Thank you to Mallory and the team at Iowa Beef Expo for providing the venue — your partnership and support make a huge difference.

Finally, thank you to all of our sponsors for believing in this event and helping make it possible. Your support allows opportunities like this to continue and grow.

We truly appreciate everyone who played a part in making the Iowa FFA Bid Calling Invitational State Contest such a success!

Big congratulations to Miles McConnaha on being named Grand Champion at today’s Iowa FFA State Invitational Auctioneers Contest. Miles delivered an outstanding performance and truly earned this win. He’s taking home the champion belt buckle, a $1,500 scholarship from the Iowa Auctioneers Association, and an additional $500 from the Bob Larkey Family Memorial — $2,000 total in scholarships.

The confidence, talent, and work ethic Miles showed today are exactly what make the future of auctioneering so exciting. This is a huge accomplishment, and it’s clear he’s just getting started. Congratulations, Miles — well deserved.
