CAN Prevention Council - Polk County The C.A.N. Prevention Council provides up-to-date training to teachers & caregivers as well as support parents with educational class and community events.

Prevention Council consists of Polk County community members, from diverse professions, who seek to support families in creating safe environments for children. This is done through the funding of free parenting classes for everyone: new parents, expecting parents, grandparents, teachers, and more. Through education we believe that each child is given opportunity to live in a safe and nurturing en

vironment. The C.A.N Prevention Council focuses on community planning and monitors community services. When a gap becomes apparent, the council may elect to develop a program to fill the need, seek grant funds to initiate a program, and provide the service for a limited period of time. However, it is the long rang goal of the council to turn programs over to the direct service agency capable of continuing the service.
