We're grateful for community partners like Hoyt Sherman Place that bring exciting new learning experiences to our young people!

Museums are… places where communities connect, learn, and grow together. At Hoyt Sherman Place, we help build community through partnerships and shared experiences that celebrate the history and culture of Des Moines.
🎨 From hosting tours and art classes for Oakridge Neighborhood Services and Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa to sharing jazz music on our lawn every Tuesday in July, we strive to create welcoming spaces for all.
🎭 Through partnerships with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa and Des Moines Public Schools, we continue working to break down barriers to access and expand opportunities through the arts, history, and education.

Our youth team recently hosted a Paint and Pizza Party with The Wallace Centers of Iowa, with the theme "Sounds of the Prairie." Students came together to paint 2x2 wooden platforms that will become part of the annual Prairie Art Exhibit. They showed up with their imagination, creativity, and inspiration.
