United Way of Jasper County and The IOWA Foundation are looking for a few businesses and/or individuals to help sponsor our camp. This camp is for all area kiddos - 3rd-8th grade - to get the chance to work with professional athletes. This is a very big deal that the event is in Newton as they have historically been in Iowa City and Des Moines only. We are now the 3rd camp and in its 3rd year. The camp will feature former Iowa and NFL player Tim Dwight and many others, along with Newton Cardinal Football coaching staff. Each child will receive a t-shirt, chance to work with the athletes, meet and greet, drinks and ice cream. It's such a fun night - truly. Washer City Card Con hosted its first ever Box Break. It was so great to see the kids who love sports, who love collecting respond when their favorite player popped up. It wasn't about how much a card was worth but how much they loved the player or the team or just the experience. There was true excitement in the room. Joyful, fun, laughing! It was awesome. Special thanks to former Hawkeye and NFL player Marvin McNutt for being our special guest host. We aren't sure who had more fun - Marvin ripping packs or the kids watching. Special thank you to Niemann Ace Hardware - Newton for helping us get the cards. What a great night. We can't wait to do it again!!
