Want to get your products or business in front of our community? We’re opening a limited number of vendor and business tables for the AWFA Fall Cultural Celebration on Saturday, September 19!

Tables are only $50 and are open to retail vendors, small businesses, service providers, community organizations and more.

Sell Cambodian clothing, jewelry, crafts or other merchandise — or set up a table to promote your business or services!

You’ll also have the opportunity to set up during the Cambodian Buddhist Society's Buddhist community gathering and stay through the evening celebration, giving you exposure throughout the day.

🎶 Welcome back, UnityBand! 🎶

We’re excited to welcome UnityBand back to the AWFA Fall Cultural Celebration on September 19!

Based in Rochester, Minnesota, UnityBand is a seven-member group founded by Simm two years ago with a shared love of music and bringing people together. At the heart of the group is Simm’s unique “One-Man-Band” approach, handling the music production and backing tracks while UnityBand’s vocalists bring each song to life on stage.

What started with spontaneous parties has grown into a group that now hosts a major event every month, putting their own spin on favorite songs and creating an atmosphere made for singing, dancing, and celebrating together.

Their motto says it best:

Please come give back to your community! 🇰🇭❤️ You only need to volunteer for one shift to receive free admission to the Fall Cultural Celebration. Volunteers will also receive a $10 voucher with no cash value that may be used toward food, drinks, or the cost of an event ticket. Once your shift is finished, you can enjoy the rest of the celebration with your family and friends—so you can help your community without missing out on the party!

Volunteers will also have access to a dedicated volunteer-only break room with complimentary drinks and snacks throughout the celebration. If your employer recognizes volunteer service or offers benefits for volunteering, AWFA can provide verification of the hours you worked.

Volunteers working later shifts should arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled shift for brief training and a handoff. Cleanup volunteers should arrive by 10:45 PM.

You do not have to volunteer all day, and volunteers may sign up for more than one shift.

AWFA Fall Cultural Celebration – Volunteers Needed 🇰🇭

We are looking for volunteers to help us get ready for our Fall Cultural Celebration! You do not have to help all day. Even helping for one shift or a couple of hours makes a big difference.

Volunteer Benefit for assisting the AWFA Celebration:
Your entrance to the Fall Cultural Celebration is FREE when you volunteer for the evening celebration. Please note that this does not apply to volunteering at the Buddhist ceremony in the morning. Please contact their point of contact listed in the next paragraph. Each volunteer will also receive a $10 voucher (no cash value) that can be used toward a ticket, food, or drinks being sold at the event.

There will also be Buddhist activities that morning unrelated to AWFA. Please contact Maylee Erickson (515) 979-2159 for Buddhist Ceremony/temple activities volunteer info.

The temple is handling the Buddhist activities and any volunteers needed for that part of the morning.

If you are working admissions, beverage sales, beverage restocking, or another position that begins when the event opens, please arrive by 3:00 PM. We will use that time to go over your job, train everyone on the systems, answer questions, and make sure all stations are ready before the doors open.

Volunteers working later shifts should arrive about 30 minutes before their scheduled shift so there is time to go over the job before taking over.

Cleanup volunteers should arrive by 10:45 PM.

There are many ways to help that do not require using a computer or handling money. We need people to unload supplies, set up tables, fill ice, stock drinks, run supplies, help guests, and clean up.

The committee will have leads for the different areas of the event. The volunteer positions listed here are the individual shifts we need help filling.

You don't need to volunteer all day. If you can give us one shift or even a couple of hours, it helps us so much.

Meet Our Featured Singer: So Sopheak ❤️

We are so excited to officially introduce our featured singer for the 2026 AWFA Fall Celebration on September 19, So Sopheak!

Originally from Sandan Village in Puok District, Siem Reap, Cambodia, So Sopheak began singing at a young age and has continued sharing her love of Cambodian music and culture throughout the years.

What makes this especially meaningful for our community is that it has been approximately 20 years since So Sopheak last performed here in Iowa. Many people still remember her from those years, and having her return after all this time makes this feel like such a special reunion.

For many Cambodian families in Iowa, including those with roots in Oddar Meanchey and other parts of Cambodia, there is something familiar and nostalgic about hearing So Sopheak sing. Her voice brings back memories of home, family, celebrations, and the traditions that continue to connect us across generations.

We are so happy to welcome So Sopheak back to Iowa and cannot wait to celebrate with her on September 19.
