On April 4th, we'll climb 1,656 steps at the Fight For Air Climb-Des Moines to support healthier lungs, raise critical awareness, and fund the fight against lung disease.

You can't see it. You can't smell it. You can't taste it. BUT radon could be in your home.🏡

Iowa has the highest percentage of elevated radon levels in the country, making testing especially important for Iowa families.

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas and the leading cause of lung cancer among people who don't smoke. In Iowa, radon is estimated to cause approximately 400 lung cancer deaths each year.

The good news? Testing your home is simple and knowing your radon level can help you take steps to protect yourself and your family. 💙

October is National Indoor Air Quality Awareness Month. What makes indoor air quality unhealthy?

Indoor air can be 2-5 times, even up to 100 times, more polluted than outdoor air. Indoor air pollution can come from:

-Gas appliances
-Cleaning supplies and other chemicals
-Fireplaces and wood stoves
-Fragranced products like air fresheners and scented candles

Happy Dolly Day!! We celebrate this humanitarian today and everyday!!

When a major traffic snarl delayed Pearl Bailey, the American Lung Association’s 1985 National Christmas Seal chairman, from getting to New York’s Central Park, it looked like the national kick-off event for this year’s campaign would have to start without her. Luckily Dolly Parton happened to be lunching nearby and graciously agreed to pose with a replica of the snowman on this year’s Seal and a bunch of children who had decorated it. Then, just as the country singer started flashing her smile for the cameras, Pearl arrived and the ecstatic Christmas Seal people had the double pleasure of two superstars.
