Downtown Des Moines glows orange! Over the next few days, the Casey's Center, Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden and the Women of Achievement Bridge will be lit up orange in recognition of Hunger Action Month. Make sure to stop and take in the view!

The Cy-Hawk game is coming soon and it's time to show your team spirit!

Our volunteer center is gearing up for the big game with a volunteer fundraiser competition. But you don't have to be a volunteer to support your favorite team. Leading up to the game, you can donate online toward your favorite team and see who comes out on top all while raising funds for Food Bank of Iowa. AND all donated funds will be matched by Corteva Agriscience, up to $5,000.

We can't thank Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack & Hotel enough for their support for Polk County school pantries in the last school year. They are again helping feed students in Polk County with a $50,000 grant this year to ensure they have the fuel they need to learn, grow and thrive.

Rep. Lindsay James visited Worth County Community Pantry (Worth County Community Of Promise), a Food Bank of Iowa partner, yesterday. Executive Director Angela Wright provided a tour and shared the many services offered -- food pantry, mobile pantry, monthly community meal and indoor playground. They are also developing a lending library of kitchen equipment! This pantry serves up to 800 neighbors per month and prioritizes nutritious foods like produce, protein and dairy. Director Wright noted the pantry has seen an influx of larger families seeking help with food. Most of the families served have one, if not two, working adults.

Raise a glass to our volunteers and Doll Distributing - Des Moines! Our volunteers spent the afternoon packaging oatmeal and peaches and celebrated with drinks and snacks. We’re so grateful for your support, energy, and dedication to helping fight hunger in our communities.

Two groups from Johnson Controls recently volunteered with us, packing rice and oatmeal. Their company has a program that for every 1 hour of time that an employee volunteers, they donate $10. We are so grateful for their time and support!
