Des Moines Auxiliary for Seattle Children’s Hospital

Since 1928, the Des Moines Auxiliary has been a very active group of volunteers who give their time, talent and financial support to Seattle Children’s Hospital. We are a 501C3 non-profit service organization and are still going strong hosting multiple fundraising events in our local community. Today, the auxiliary meets for lunch at 11:30am on the third Thursday of each month, September – May at the United Methodist Church of Des Moines and everyone is welcome to come join us. Our membership averages between 50 and 60 wonderful, giving and kind-hearted ladies. Aside from our monthly luncheon meetings, our fabulous group host several events throughout the year including: - Our annual Holiday Bazaar in November, which consist of over 30 tables of varied arts and crafts, a live Santa Claus, baked goods, entertainment, a raffle and many nice door prizes donated by the vendors. - A fun December auction where our generous members each bring a new or collectable item, gift basket or gift cards to be sold to the highest bidder. - Our Spring Fashion show fundraiser luncheon is a favorite of many members and includes the latest fashions, great raffle items, and an inspiring speaker. - We collect new books throughout the year for the Seattle Children’s Federal Way clinic. Please feel free to donate these anytime by bringing them to any lunch or event. - Throughout the year we collect donations of gently used or new clothing, small household items, and jewelry for the Seattle Children’s Bargain Boutique located on West Meeker Street in Kent. Many of our members also volunteer their time there. We encourage you to stop by there and support them. You are sure to find great bargains. - Various other fundraisers are held throughout the year and we like to put the fun in fundraiser while helping children and families in need. Come join in the fun! New members are always welcome. Yearly due are $10. Monthly luncheons are $10. This auxiliary is very proud to help support such a worthy cause as Seattle Children’s Hospital in its mission to provide quality care to all children, regardless of ability to pay, by raising fund for uncompensated care.
