As we wrap up another year of serving homeless families in memory of our beloved Jane, here are a few stats on why we are providing funding for meals: the Shelter is Polk County's only 24-hr emerg family shelter that keeps the entire family together; all guests receive 3 meals daily; 60% of Shelter guests are children (239 in 2012); 52 families exited the Shelter to permanent housing; the # of adults employed doubled from entry to exit; 1089 families, or 2596 people, were turned away because the Shelter was full. Whether you have a few coins remaining in your 2013 giving budget or can tap your 2014 budget in early January, your financial contribution in Jane's memory makes a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
