It is with great sadness that the Washington State Funeral Directors Association shares the passing of Mark W. Kramer, a lifelong Whitman County resident and respected funeral director, who passed away on April 17, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Mark dedicated more than five decades of service to the families of the Palouse and surrounding communities, offering steady guidance, compassion, and professionalism during life’s most difficult moments. His commitment to funeral service and the people he cared for leaves a lasting legacy that will not be forgotten.

Throughout his career, Mark exemplified the values of our profession—service, dignity, and care. He was a trusted presence in his community and a source of strength to countless families, colleagues, and friends.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mark’s family, friends, staff, and all those whose lives were touched by his kindness and dedication.
Service details will be shared as they become available.
Please join us in keeping the Kramer family and their community in your thoughts during this difficult time.

ON THE FRONT LINES OF LOSS: FUNERAL PROFESSIONALS AND COMMUNITY TRAGEDY

Join the Virtual Funeral Professionals Peer Support Meeting in April

WHEELING, IL— When tragedy strikes a community, funeral professionals are often among the first
called to respond. Following incidents of mass loss, public grief, or highly visible deaths, the demands on
funeral service professionals intensify—emotionally, professionally, and personally. While supporting
others, many deathcare employees find themselves carrying the weight of collective grief with few
opportunities to process its impact.

The April virtual Funeral Professionals Peer Support Meeting, takes place on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at
7:30pm ET / 6:30pm CT / 4:30pm PT and offers a dedicated, confidential space for funeral
professionals to come together in support of one another. This peer-led gathering centers on shared
experience, reflection, and connection among those who understand what it means to serve communities
during times of profound loss.

This meeting creates room to talk openly about the emotional realities of responding to community
tragedies—cumulative grief, moral fatigue, professional pressure, and the challenge of caring for oneself
while caring for many. Participants are invited to listen, share if they choose, and draw strength from the
collective wisdom and understanding of their peers.

The session will be gently facilitated by Todd Reinholt, a licensed funeral director, funeral celebrant, and
grief recovery specialist, whose role is to guide conversation and support peer connection. Todd brings
18 years of experience serving families and is the founder of Life Celebrants International, an
organization dedicated to training and certifying funeral celebrants across North America. His work as an
educator and speaker focuses on fostering resilience and sustainability within the funeral service
profession.

This meeting is open to all funeral service professionals—including directors, embalmers, celebrants,
apprentices, students, and support staff. No preparation is needed, and participation is welcome at
whatever level feels right; listening is just as valued as sharing.
No registration required. Attendees are encouraged to bring themselves as they are and join a community
grounded in understanding, compassion, and peer support.
Join in on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 7:30pm ET / 6:30pm CT / 4:30pm PT via Zoom link at

Hey Ladies! Funeral Women Lead has launched a survey and they would like our thoughts!
I encourage you to take a moment and complete the survey.

Funeral Women Lead | 2026 Pulse Survey
Introducing the new + annual Funeral Women Lead Pulse Survey

The Funeral Women Lead Pulse Survey is our annual, profession-wide check-in on what it’s really like to build and sustain a career as a woman in funeral service and deathcare.

Each year, we will gather confidential input from women across every career stage from students and early-career professionals to senior leaders, owners, and educators and suppliers, so we can measure what matters most in areas of: wellness, respect, connection, growth opportunities, leadership pathways, and commitment to staying in the profession.

This isn’t a “nice-to-know” survey. It’s insightful information we share, designed to reflect how women in the profession need to be supported to unleash their greatness.

This Pulse Survey is a community listening tool created by Funeral Women Lead to understand experiences and trends in the profession. It is not an IRB-reviewed research study. Results will be shared in aggregate to inform our annual “State of Women” report and for purposes of future Funeral Women Lead education and programming.
