Today’s Nursing Symposium was amazing! 🩺💙

Nearly 200 Highline College nursing students gathered to gain firsthand career insights from six alumni working across a wide range of nursing specialties.

From navigating night shifts to choosing a specialty and everything in between, our alumni shared honest insights, valuable lessons, and advice to help the next generation of nurses feel more confident as they enter the profession.

Meet Joshua Wheeldon, Highline College alumnus and co-founder of Pacific Northwest Veterans (PNWVets).

Coming from a family with a long history of military service, Joshua enlisted to honor that legacy while also earning money for college. Transitioning back to civilian life after the military showed him just how important community, connection, and having people who understand your experience can be. That realization led Joshua and fellow Veteran Joshua Penner to create PNWVets, a volunteer-driven community group connecting Veterans, military families, and civilians across the Pacific Northwest.

Sometimes, finding your next chapter starts with finding your people and Joshua is helping make sure Veterans and their families don’t have to navigate that journey alone.

Representative Mia Su-Ling Gregerson is a familiar face in the community she serves. The State representative of the 33rd Legislative District is a Highline Alumna who works on initiatives that directly address key needs in our community, such as prioritizing expanded voting rights, stable housing, providing digital equity, and tackling food insecurity.
