DC 81 recently kicked off Building Union Member Power events with a focus on our mission and values of One Union • One Family • One Fight — with General President Jimmy Williams, General Vice President Mike Gutierrez, IUPAT leadership, and BM/ST JD Fitch leading the charge. From public‑sector to private‑sector members, and from apprentices to retirees, we came together to reflect on where we started and where we want to go, together.

The mission is simple, reconnect members, rebuild solidarity, and strengthen the collective power generations fought to win. This movement is for every member! Be on the lookout for more events in your area.

Lets show some support for our brothers and sisters out in TX!

District Council 10, Glaziers Local 1778, is officially on an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike against Spring Glass.

For nearly two years, Spring Glass has engaged in bad-faith and regressive bargaining—most recently demanding that our brothers and sisters take a massive $5.90 an hour wage cut in the middle of a high-inflation economy.

On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Local 1778 members working for Spring Glass conducted a structure test by proudly wearing "Ready to Strike" stickers on the job. Rather than respecting our rights, Spring Glass retaliated and committed yet another ULP.

On Wednesday, Local 1778 voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike. Today, our picket lines are officially up in Houston, Texas. Our members are standing strong on the line, fighting for the dignity, respect, and fair wages they deserve. But they cannot fight this battle alone. We are calling on our labor family for immediate assistance.

Check out these leaders from District Council 81 at the most recent NABTU Legislative Conference: Apprentice Rylee Holub (Glaziers Local 581, IA) — chair of DC 81’s Women’s Committee and recording secretary of her local; Tyreese Whisenton (painter & finisher, Local 79 Financial Secretary, CO; originally from IL); and Penny Logsdon (retiree, PPME 2003) — still active and engaged in union work.
