Des Moines is a community rich in parks and recreation stewardship and history dating back to the early 1900's when citizens donated land for baseball fields (now Des Moines Field House Park). Donations such as land, play equipment, senior center equipment, computers, park maintenance support, plants and trees, athletic equipment, picnic tables, and benches, volunteer labor, and cash have all been

integral to improving our quality of life here in Des Moines. The Des Moines Legacy Foundation is committed to preserving this tradition and expanding youth, adult, and senior parks and recreation opportunities and facilities throughout our community.

The Waterland Children’s Festival on Friday, July 17, is seeking volunteers to assist with arts and crafts, face painting, kitemaking, children’s float making for the Waterland Parade, and

That's what can happen when a community comes together with a shared purpose.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended this year's Bayside Diamond Ball, $35,000 was raised to support programs that make a difference right here in Des Moines - including the Des Moines Food Bank, Mount Rainier Pool's youth swimming programs, local youth sports and recreation initiatives, and programs that support seniors in our community.

To everyone who attended, volunteered, donated, sponsored, and supported the event - thank you. Your generosity will help strengthen our community and create new opportunities for children, families, and seniors.
