Look at all the books folks have dropped off today - thank you! 📚🎉 We are happy to share that our 24 hour Book Drop will remain at the YWRC now through September. Swing by to donate your books, puzzles, games, etc. 24 hours a day. There are two drop off windows - one for boxed books and one for loose items. See the signs on the Book Drop for more instructions.

📍Located at 818 5th Avenue Des Moines 50309. - Between 5th and 6th streets, between the Event Center and Center Street parking ramp.

📚24/7 Book Drop available now! 🎉 The mobile Book Drop will be at the YWRC office now through next Sunday the 24th. 🌟 AFP Member Spotlight: Kimberley Strope-Boggus 🌟

⭐ What inspired you to pursue a career in fundraising, and what keeps you passionate about the work today?

“I came across fundraising when I joined United Way as a loaned executive. I loved seeing firsthand the generosity of funders and donors in the greater Des Moines area. Seeing the daily success of our women and girls keeps me passionate about the work I do at YWRC.”

⭐ What has been one of the most rewarding moments in your fundraising career?

“I once had a donor whose gift came out of tragedy. Reliving the moments with the family really made me empathize with them and how, out of the lowest moment of their life, they made a significant gift that is meaningful to the women and girls we serve.”

⭐ How has AFP influenced your professional growth?

“AFP has been such a connector to others in the industry. Sometimes it’s good just to have another person to bounce an idea off of or to ask, “hey, have you tried this?” and get great feedback and advice. AFP is the highlight of my professional development.”

⭐ What is something your AFP colleagues might be surprised to learn about you?

“I have over 100 snow globes that I have collected over the years. I love the calm and then the chaos when you give them a good shake.”

Congratulations to all of the Des Moines Business Record Women of Influence honorees! We are grateful to be in community with these leaders. Thank you all for being positive role models for our participants, and for sharing your words of wisdom at the celebration last night. We were especially excited to celebrate current Board member Ashlee Vieregger and former Board member and long time supporter Erica Axiotis!

Happiness Hour was a success! 💜🍦🎨 Thank you to the YWRC Ambassadors for planning and executing such a unique way for folks to learn more about what we do. We enjoyed an ice cream sundae bar and creating vision boards, joy jars, and affirmation cards. Thank to all who joined us!
