Today, we recognize Women’s Equality Day, a celebration of progress and a reminder that equality is still a work in progress.

Observed each year on August 26, Women’s Equality Day commemorates the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment, which granted many American women the right to vote. However, discriminatory laws and practices continued to deny that right to many women of color for decades.

More than a century later, women continue working toward full equality in pay, leadership, economic opportunity and financial security.

At Dress for Success Des Moines, we believe equality includes ensuring every woman has the clothing, skills, confidence and support she needs to pursue meaningful employment and economic mobility. When women thrive in work and life, families, workplaces and entire communities become stronger.

Today, we honor the women who fought for progress and recommit ourselves to the work still ahead.

We’re launching Operation: Uplift, and we need your support!
