Last week, we wrapped up another Digital Empowerment course from Dress for Success Des Moines hosted at Drake University.

Over the course, participants built confidence using technology that is essential in today’s workplace, from email and online applications to job search tools, and everyday computer skills.

Each participant left with their own laptop to continue to strengthen the skills they need to navigate employment, advocate for themselves and work toward their goals.

We are grateful to the Iowa Women's Foundation and Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack & Hotel for supporting this work and helping make these opportunities possible for women across Central Iowa.

Dress for Success Des Moines is piloting an outreach initiative to bring professional clothing directly into communities where women may face barriers to accessing our services.

To help launch this effort, we are currently collecting BLACK BLAZERS in all sizes.

By day, Alicia supports other small business owners as they launch and grow their dreams. At the same time, she’s been building a dream of her own through Más Café, creating connection and culture through high-quality coffee and Latino-inspired flavors.

Today we’re celebrating two incredible members of our team, Lauren and Sophie, as they graduate from Iowa State University.

Through their work at Dress for Success Des Moines and AmeriCorps they’ve supported the women we serve with compassion while also creating meaningful experiences for our volunteers and community partners.

We are so proud of all they’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see the ways they continue serving and strengthening communities in the future.

IWF President & CEO Claudia Schabel recently visited Dress for Success Des Moines in Urbandale — where confidence and opportunity come together to support women in the workplace.

As a 2025 grantee, Dress for Success received $20,000 to support Career Center expansion and digital literacy classes, equipping participants with computer skills essential for both personal and professional success.
Through a powerful combination of support, professional attire, and career development tools, women gain the resources and confidence needed to move forward.
