Good afternoon friends. Logging on with sadness and heavy hearts today to say that IowaCASA's Board of Directors has voted to dissolve the organization, and this Friday will be the last day for the majority of our work.

IowaCASA has been working to end sexual violence and make sure that survivors and the people who support them have everything they need to heal and thrive for over 40 years, and it has been our honor and pleasure to carry out this critical mission alongside so many of you. There is still so much work to do, and we hope that we have laid a solid foundation for all of you to carry on. Take care of yourselves, and each other.

If you are a survivor, please know that we see you, we believe you, and help is available. Reach out to the Iowa Victim Service Call Center at any time, day or night, and they will connect you with support in your area. ❤️

As we head into a new year, and a new legislative cycle, we thought it was a good time to check in about all of the things that survivors deserve in our families, our communities, our state, our nation, and our world. Thank you all for showing up in whatever ways you can to make sure that survivors are getting everything they need and deserve. If we stay grounded in this, we can do amazing things!

We are beyond excited about Iowa ACEs 360’s Work. Well. Iowa. initiative and its potential for keeping kids and families safe and thriving! Please follow them, check out the project, share with your employers, and share your own story!

Behind every workplace policy is a real person balancing work, caregiving, health, and the unexpected.

We’re inviting Iowans to share their stories—big or small—about what support at work has looked like, or what has been missing. These lived experiences help shape policies that actually work.

Your story does not have to be polished. It just has to be real.

This month IowaCASA has also prepared helpful flyers containing information on this important safety topic. Please share this information with those you love.

Today marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the 9th day of the 16 Days of Activism campaign.
Inclusive Safety means ensuring digital spaces are safe for all Iowans. Survivors with disabilities face unique forms of online violence and require accessible resources.
According to the World Health Organization, 15% of the world's population lives with a disability. Studies show that folks with disabilities experience sexual violence, including cyber-sexual violence, at higher rates than those without. Inclusive Safety means ensuring digital spaces are safe for all Iowans.

Yesterday was World AIDS Day, a critical reminder that violence and stigma are deeply connected barriers to health.

Digital sexual violence is not just harassment; it fuels stigma, creating profound barriers to vital health care, including HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. Our work against violence is inseparable from the fight for health equity. Violence and stigma affect everyone's health, and we must not let digital spaces become a new engine for discrimination.

That's why our focus today is on demanding accountability from technology platforms.

Cyber-sexual abuse is rampant on social media and dating apps. These platforms have a moral and ethical responsibility to design safer spaces, provide robust reporting tools, and enforce consequences for online abusers. We cannot let corporate inaction undermine public health and safety.

Day 2, 16 days of Activism campaign.

Digital Abuse is Real Abuse. Consent is Key. Cyber-stalking, non-consensual image sharing, deepfakes, and online harassment; these are all forms of sexual violence. Our core message is simple: Consent applies everywhere, especially online.
