Let's talk about secrecy and or privacy in the context of Buddhism.

First, there's the secrecy between teacher and student and what the teacher teaches to the student. Content, practice, samaya etc.

Second, there's things that are secret, simply because we haven't realized them. They're like realizations to be had. They're there but we don't know of them because of our level of realization.

Third, there this unofficial thing called, mind your own damn business. This is the area where it's no one's business what practice you're doing, how many mantras you recite, what rituals you partake in etc. This goes for wanting to know what others are doing and it goes for telling others what you are doing.

We also don't ever sit in a lamas seat.
