Energy assistance program to provide additional support

After an unprecedented year-one of the pandemic – Hopelink distributed more than $3.7 million in energy assistance to nearly 9,300 people during 2020 – financial support promises to be even stronger during the months ahead.

This year, thanks to a new federal LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) service, clients with several months of unpaid utility bills may be able to have their balance paid off – up to $2500 – while also receiving another LIHEAP grant as a credit on their account moving forward.

And for the first time, Hopelink will be able to provide water utility assistance for those who also qualify for LIHEAP. Clients will be asked to submit their water bill in addition to their energy bill at the time of their appointment.

In addition, Hopelink will provide portable air conditioning units to up to 500 households later in the season (subject to funding availability).

Though the shutoff moratorium put in place for COVID-19 has ended, if clients are behind on bills and let their energy provider know that they are booked for an appointment with Hopelink for energy assistance, the energy provider will delay shutoff to ensure they have access to assistance.

Today is our last day of the charity yard sale. And we are so close to our goal!

All proceeds from the yard sale go towards our mission of providing warm new blankets and brand new socks to the homeless community.

I know it's been a bit quiet on our social media, but IROC has not stopped working on getting goals accomplished!

We've been doing yard sales the last few weekends to raise money for new blankets and new socks for the homeless.
